Does LA winning a series mean a FA will have interest?

Every year the Kings fail to tie the knot to a free agent. Does the Kings winning against Vancouver help them sign big name free agents? Has it been the lack of winning? Has it been DL lowballing? Is it the city itself?

Does anyone believe they will be an attractive location this year and who will they be interested in?

Not sure what they are looking for, but as long as they have the cap room (Capgeek says 4 players are RFA/UFA and they have 10m in room) they will be an attractive target for UFAs that want to win now. Only drawback I see is potential term issues, since other teams aren't tied to Richards and Carter length deals. If the cap doesn't increase much, they could have problems next season when Quick gets a raise.

yes but also a loud/resounding no. Penner will come off the books next yr which will free a lot of space. If Gagne remains injured its even more space.

Imagine if they pick up Suter. That would be a scary team...

None of the other California teams have had much luck with free agency.

Not sure what you mean, Penner is UFA this year and the numbers I gave are without him, Stoll, etc. For next season they have 20 under contract at 54.3, with the cap this season at 64.3.

Adding a defenceman would be a great move for them. That team is already a contender out west just wait until Richards and Carter really start playing their best hockey.

Here's how the scenario will shake out. Dean will fly Parise to LA, show him a Spielberg-ian video about the city with an appearance from Kobe, and then offer him a 7 year $42 million contract. Parise will narrow his choices to two teams, one of which will be the Kings, but ultimately select the team that's not LA. But that's okay. Making sure we can sign Quick is priority number one.

Lombardi has been keeping his eye on Parise for a while, especially since Kovalchuk. I am assuming that is who you are hinting at. In the end, it will matter on the free agent. I certainly think that LA can attract the interest in people interested in contending and they have a good location to show off, but ultimately it will matter on the individual you are trying to lure. Like Brad Richards, some players just want to stay east, because of travel, family, location, whatever. More kids, especially from a veteran era, grow up in the east, idolizing eastern teams etc... I have a strong feeling Parise is going to be another player, no matter what we offer, who is just going to prefer staying in the east coast.

Suter might be a whole different story though... He was my darkhorse pick for LA, because Lombardi is infamously known for preferring defense to a fault, and I have a feeling he may do something to give Doughty a better partner.

Either way, it can't hurt... They probably did increase their free agent appeal, but not all that much, especially to those who already disregard the west coast as most do.
