That would be a reasonable question if Šatan wasn´t actually getting an invitee to the NT, which means that nothing would stand in the way of them two playing together on the NT as well. As opposed to not having Hudáček and having Šatan play with someone completely new with whom he won´t be used to playing together. Especially when almost none of our current lines are actually geling together at all...

I would hope that our coach does not and will not pick players based on scoring one single goal.

Šatan has played with so many Slovak players through his career, that I'm not worrying about his chemistry with players in NT. And I wasn't talking about decision based on scoring one goal and you know it .

We officially have the next duo of brothers in NT . Vujtek changed his decision and Libor Hudáček is in . Great decision.

This beautiful and super important goal made it for him (but not just that goal ):

Considering Marian Hossa´s injury, unless the Bruins or the Rangers lose game 7 then no. Actually when I look at it, for example Denmark will probably have 4 players that would not only make the Slovak roster easily, but would actually be an upgrade over almost everything if not everything that we have currently. (Eller, Hansen, Nielsen and Larsen)

So how do you see odds that Slovakia will qualify on Olympics 2014?
I'm sure we won't do it.

Unless there´s a major improvement in play - basically a miracle (which could include Rangers and Bruins not making it to the next round - not that I don´t want them to make it r Norway sucking majorly as they are the ones we have to overcome) I don´t see it happening here either.
In the qualification our chances could be pretty good considering the level of potential opposition if we finally stop relying on certain players.

He´s retired from NT and hs repeatedly declined invitation. Which I think it´s not such a bad decision, at least someone in Slovak hockey has realized that he no longer is in the early 00´s but in the early 10´s.

Palffy did 83 points in 48 games, still in slovak league, but compare with Satan who had 53 points in 49 games, and Satan are not bad.

Andrej Sekera is the only NHLer on the roster. Milan Jurčina was with the team, but got injured in the first period of the first game he played and is out for the rest of the season. Michal Handzuš is supposedly 50/50 currently. No word on Hossa yet, but considering his injury it´s highly unlikely. All others are still involved in NHL play-offs (with Halak´s St. Louis and Meszaros´s Philadelphia already through in Round 2, but both of them were injured anyway). Depending on the results of Bruins, Rangers and Panthers´ next game, there still is some chance for Zdeno Chára, Marián Gáborík and Tomáš Kopecký. To put it simple - not looking good at all.

It doesn´t matter. Sometimes you just have to move on and it was Žigo´s personal decision that it is time to move on and to leave room for younger players. Similarly can you blame for example Nicklas Lidstrom for a very similar decision even though he was actually still actually playing the NHL this season?

Also if you want to go into the numbers, look at the POs and the fact is that Šatan was much more clutch for his team there, Slovan´s championship title is a proof of that. Still, it will be time to move on even from him in a very very clsoe future.

Heck, I'd rather give Rastislav Dej a shot rather than have to watch Cibak have another crap tournament. Don't even get me started on Ruzicka too.

I guess we'll just end up having to rely on Juraj Mikus to score a hatrick every game.

Ružička was sent home....a warning sign for certain gentlemen?

I know I have been very critical, but this is one decision I absolutely agree with (well it would have been better if they had also packed Cibák with him)

Is he really that bad? He's a 40 point scorer in the KHL and played in the NHL only 4 years ago.

He has played 8 games for Slovak NT this season and his stats were 0+1! Considering he's a sniper, that's a problem... Unfortunately he often looks like, he doesn't give his best, while playing in Slovak jersey.

This is (along with depth) the biggest problem in our national team.

Definitely yes. If he shows heart it could be a huge turnament for him.

He has had an injured shoulder for a long part of the season and he had to undergo a surgery shortly before the end of the regular season and isn´t fit yet.

After that terrible showing on home-ice last year, I'd settle for 10th this year.

It's hard to have hope with rosters like this year in and year out.
