The Montreal Gazette was occupying a few seats on the Giroux bandwagon. Jack Todd whined about the Canadiens not drafting Giroux. And the main story on page 1 of the sports page was all about this series as Giroux's coming-out party as one of the league's elite.

Fun fact; after Giroux's first shift, 2.8 million woman got pregnant all at the same time

It's not relevant, really. Any 'best of' is going to have lots of debate. I don't really care if he's 'the' best, he's one of the best and that's all that really needs saying.
I think you missed my point which was more or less people taking that comment by Lavs too seriously, hes the coach, obviously hes going to be a homer for his own players and over hype them, its mind games and confidence building for his players. The stats though simply just solidify his argument at least this postseason.

I keep thinking back to that 3-2 OT comeback win vs. the Pens late in the season when NBC was tripping over themselves to anoint the Pens as champs. They actually had a between periods segment called "Pittsburgh Penguins - an embarrassment of riches." After this series, more like "embarrassing b**ches."

Such a sweeeeeeeet victory!

Anyone win a good bet on this series? I had lost several bets to one of my best friends over the last few years of Flyers vs Pens. Had to buy him lunch many times. This time we upped the ante. We are both in the same Winnipeg Jets ticket group and now he has to wear one of my Flyers jerseys at the ticket draft! If the Flyers had lost I would have had to wear his Crosby jersey. That would have been more horrible than I could ever imagine.

Also, be warned: We do not like Lapierre.
I was sort of on-board with the Pens, but not enough over the Flyers. It was all about Canucks-Pens fans as two hated fanbases joining together blah blah blah.

And you'll have to like Lappy for a bit now.

Surprise that hasn't been photoshopped by anyone who follows the Flyers to a picture of Giroux and adding "This guy did"

I remember when NBC said the Penguins were like the Harlem Globetrotters while the Flyers were the Washington Generals. Hilarious.

Other than clarke forgetting his name, I do seem to remember giroux being a bit off the board for the first round at least. The flyers don't miss first round forwards, going all the way back to zubrus

It made me think back to a Simpsons episode where Krusty's agent was lambasting him for a significant bet he put on the Generals.

Krusty: I thought they were due!

And drafting Carter (11th) and Richards (24th) in the first round in 2003.

Todd does make the necessary point that 21 clubs overlooked Giroux, and that notables such as James Sheppard (9), Riku Helenius (15), Ty Wishart (16), Trevor Lewis (17), Mark Mitera (19), David Fischer (20), and Bobby Sanguinetti (21) were all chosen ahead of him.

They actually said that? In light of the records this year that is really just laughable on their part, even before the series started.
