Tavares is a much better skater, but he's not an elite skater.
You can improve your skating, and become better at it... but if you want to be the equivalent of a Murray or a Dumba, you've either got that natural talent or you don't. Tavares or Reinhart will never replicate their high end speed.
You seriously think Coburn is a low-end comparison for Reinhart? The way drafts go, I'd honestly say that should be his expected potential. And that's a damn good d-man that is worth every bit of a top 10 pick.
A little bit of Coburn, a little bit of Brent Burns is what I see in Reinhart. The way Tyler Myers has developed the physical side of his game makes me believe Reinhart will have no trouble doing so as well.

Not sure why you are making such a big deal out of his skating. He's a fine skater, especially for someone his size. It's not like it needs to be on a Dumba, Rielly or Murray level just for him to become a solid NHL defender.

I was merely saying, that his skating will keep him a level below those guys, and he isn't the 2nd best prospect from the WHL IMO.

Reinhart has attributes that the other guys dont have and likely never will have. He will be a very good dman in the nhl. Im fairly sure of that. Elite skater or not.

When I first saw him play almost two years ago I said he was going top 5.. Even today I didn't expect him to go that high but its a great pick for NYI. Sam Reinhart will be next to get drafted
Is all of this talk about questionable intensity legit? I find it hard to believe he'd go as high as he did if there was doubt in pro scout's eyes.
It was in the regular season but he kicked it up a couple notches in the playoffs. He's 6'4 and 210lbs at 18 years old. In the CHL he looks like a beast out there. Everyone always wants more from the bigger players.
From interviews it sounds like he likes playing physical. He says it doesn't totally come natural to him because being so big as a kid, he was an easy target for penalties just because he was so strong. Now he's starting to get more physical and it's growing on him.
“Reinhart is a big, two-way defender. He has the ability to defend with size and reach. His physicality continues to be an area to work on. Strong offensive skills and skating has improved all season. Expect him to be a top 10 selection, but I would take him top five.”
I agree with you assessment of his play and he does use his size well in the defensive zone, but having watched them all a number of times I would consider him a 2way defenseman and not on the level of dumba or Murray.
As far as standing up to the NHL I think dumba is the most athletic and durable, he has been playing 30 mins a game and plays a fast physical game and has held up very well, better than the other two so I don't see that as a concern. He will be 6 foot or better and over 200 pounds in the NHL.
Dumba will go before reinhart, Murray should too.

I heard Bob Mckenzie say countless times that some scouts have compared Reinhart to young Shea Weber, their path were pretty much the same back when Weber was 18, except Reinhart is much more stronger and better overall than Weber ever was in his draft year.
Great great pick up NYI if he comes anywhere close Weber's level.

That's fine, as long as he wants to be out there and compete he'll improve his weaknesses.
My top 5 are Murray, Yakupov, Ebert, Reinhart, and Galchenyuk, though if you look a year and a half before last year's draft, you would see names like McFarland, Kabanov, etc.
4 of 5 isn't bad at all...congrats! ebert really hurt, though
Good thing is with the additions of Vis and Carkner and the development and competition for the last D spot between deHann and Donovan, Rienhart will be givin atleast another year in juniors to develope.....
