Hmmm

well.. the offer sheet breakdown for last year was (assume the same):

The criteria for RFA draft pick compensation in 2011-12 is as follows:

$1,034,249 annual cap hit or less: No compensation
$1,034,249 — $1,567,043: Third-round pick
$1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick
$3,134,088 — $4,701,131: First and third-round pick
$4,701,131 — $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick
$6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third
$7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks

Sooooooooo

An offer sheet of 4 yrs at 6.25 million from Chicago..

sounds good eh

- 1 year to UFA? Check.
- Great stats? Check.
- Plays on a strong team in a weak division? Check.

Which team would trade for him, and what reasonably do you think that a player who is under contract for one year is worth?
Haha a 2nd? Even in the worst case scenario, you've never heard of a goalie netting a first round pick at the deadline?

Anyways, I'm guessing in the $4.5-5M ballpark as well.

Do the Hawks and Sharks both have all their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd young picks still?

Halak, Niemi & Hiller should the comparables. All received 4 year contracts last summer. Halak is $3.75M, Niemi - $3.8M & Hiller $4.5. Schneider should be in that range.

In this case, you have a goalie who has great stats - no question. This season, games he's won in the regular season (via NHL.com stats):
ANA, DAL, COL, DAL, CBJ, WPG, NJD, EDM, MIN, CHI, TBL, BOS, ANA, CBJ, SJS, PHX, COL, OTT, MIN.

Not exactly a murderer's row, nor should it be expected, as he's been the back-up.

Goaltending stats are an interesting thing - did you know that Vancouver's Goals Against (regular season) was 2.325, and for the games played against the other teams in the north west, was 1.652?

Central: 2.474
South East: 3.200
Pacific: 2.450
North East: 2.750
Atlantic: 2.800

Take his stats, adjust for playing against the weak NW teams, and throw in that he's one year away from being a UFA.

I'll ask again - who would trade for him, and what would they give up?

He might be a candidate for an OS. I think somebody might offer him $4M/yr on a multi year deal.
