Brendan Witt?

With Washington holding it's firesale who else thinks Poile should go after Witt? I really don't know what Washington would want for him but he would be a welcome addition to our blue line IMO

if we could get him without breaking up the core, there's no d-man in the league(that's rumored to be available) that i think would be more perfect for what we need. good penalty killer, good crease-clearer...perfect.

oh, in case no one notices, the noteworthiness of this thread is that it was started over 2 years ago.

With us needing someone that can score, score, score.. I'd like to see Poile go after Kovalchuk.

I really wanna hear the refs reasoning for throwing him out of the game. Last I checked he wasn't the one climbing over the opponents glass trying to throw punches into the opponents bench.

I'm pretty sure if you throw any punches from the bench at all its a game misconduct.

as for the San Jose announcers who don't know why their player got an unsportsmanlike with the instigator. I don't know the exact rule #, but any player who receives an instigator and is wearing a visor shall receive an unsportsmanlike conduct.

I would have liked to have seen Witt play the whole game, but you can't fault a guy for popping a gorilla scaling the glass to swat at your bench.

Piss and vinegar, I like that.

Agreed on the piss and vinegar aspect. The blueline could always use more of it. I think the price is quite steep unless he is resigned long-term. For those of you that were following this as it developed and then in its wake, what were your thoughts on Poile's intentions? Is he going to make a modest attempt to resign him or was this deal done with the fullest intentions of making him a Predator long-term?

The press conference made it sound like it's a "wait and see" kind of thing, which I think is smart on Poile's part. He said, basically,

"If we like him and he likes us...we'll look at how things went, and go from there."

Basically, he didn't want to commit one way or the other, and you left having no idea what his intentions were, as is he Poile way.

The price does seem steep...until you look at what the going rate for defensemen was, and I think we got the best one. I'd rather have paid what we did for Witt...than what Philly did for Gauthier.

And still nose-dive like they have been doing. Yeah, we got the better deal here.
