Anyone who got statistics of previous years prices for the tournament? Just so that one can compare.

The tickets for the last WC played in finland costed 60 € so 150% increase in prices.

I'm guessing that $70 is around €50?

What a dick!!

I went to both the '97 and 03' home tournaments to watch Finland play but with current prices there's not a snowballs chance in hell I'm going this year.

Rather go on vacation somewhere warm for two weeks all inclusive than go and see a meaningless round robin game

What a joke. Does the host set the prices or is it the IIHF (or whoever sanctions the tournament)?

The host

Kummola and IIHF boss Fasel are sauna buddies so Kummola can do whatever he wants.

This is a case of the federation (Gummola et al) getting too greedy and attempting to shamelessly milk every cent out of the fans pockets still hoping to ride the hype created by last years championship.

Boy do I hope it backfires and blows up in their face (hoping for empty crowds, that is). The people in charge need to be taught some humility.

That's really too bad, I am sure there are a lot of great fans in Finland that would love to go and support their own team and see some great hockey, but most likely the average working person will not go with these crazy prices, greed always ruins things.

There's actually a protest movements of sorts going on with people going to a game featuring the smaller countries.

Last year it was cheaper for Canuck fans to travel to California for Canuck/Shark playoff games than to get tickets here.

I think they would get more profit anyway if the tickets were cheaper.

One of the funniest/most ridiculous things is that the chief organizer actually said that he's not worried, he expects some more tickets to be sold from the door...

"Oh, hey, look! There was 150 euros between the couch cushions... guess I should tidy up more often. What to do... I know! I go see a game!"

Me and my friend were planning to go watch a game or two. When we found out those ticket prices were so high, we decided to forget that trip. We live 700 km away from Helsinki, so it's going to cost way too much with travelling and hotel included. It's a shame, would have been my first trip to world champs.

Ridiculous prices. Just as a comparison, a ticket for ALL games in Slovenia for Division 1A, in the lower bowl (most expensive seats) was €135... Incredible.

I hope to see a lot of games with the arena being half-empty. Kummola needs a reality check: keep the ticket prices reasonably affordable, or otherwise people will watch the games on TV instead.

I expect there will be -50% tickets from the door.

I'm going to cheer for France and Kazakhstan. Because no money to better games.

Oh FRA-KAZ is 56€ lower bowl and 36€ upper bowl. WAY too much. And the prices of drinks and foods...

Propably just watch NHL playoffs.

I know the feeling. The last time I saw the Canucks live they were playing the OLD Winnipeg Jets. That was the game Mike Peca pasted Teemu Selanne.

I was hoping to watch a lot of the games, specially the ones with the "smaller" teams but now it wont work, ridiculous prices. Now there will be like 1000 on those games, why not sell the matches without Sweden for less? Ridiculous...

It's ridiculous. The dude actually has the balls to say that, he might as well say that he doesn't give a flying **** wether or not Finland's games are sold out. IMO it would be a disaster if every Finland game is not filled to the brink. And like this they will be playing for 5000 people in the France and Belarus games. Oh and ofcourse they wont be filled to the brink with these prices. If they had any humility in them they would accept the fact that they went overboard with the prices and then sell them at lower rates. But no, they don't give a ****. Jabba the Hutt even said that "It don't matter that every seat isn't sold out, we will reach our budget anyway". I'm starting to really get sick of the oversized toad and his pack of sausagebuddies.

They should sell the France - Belarus and Mongolia - New Zeland games for like 5e / ticket, I would love to go cheer for a random little team in a full arena and drink some beer. But no, they have to sell them too for like 80e

It will very embarassing when over half of the games will be played for half-full arenas, some even less than half i'd expect.
