Watching Shane Doan's interview last night, I couldn't help but think of how we were a couple years ago. His whole focus seemed just on winning that 1st series.
Our guys this year seem to have their focus on nothing short of reaching the Cup final and won't be satisfied with anything short of that.
I think this attitude difference will be telling if the Preds win either one in Phoenix.

I predict Preds in 6.

This.

When the oppositions defense and goaltending can keep games low scoring, then it can come down to a random lucky bounce.

Against chicgao, I would have been confident that we could score on them and that Rinne would allow us to outscore them 4 games out of 7.

But in this series, we had better take advantage of Power Plays and scoring chances.

I'm slightly worried. Thye are a clone of the Preds in the early years. But this Preds team has a lot better offense and depth.

I think we won't see Tootoo in this series and more Smith/Wilson for increased offense.

If we play them in 10 series, we probably win 7 and lose 3. We just have to make sure this is one of those 7.

exactly. They remind me of the Preds before this year. This year's Preds team is just flat out good. I think the Yotes come down to reality now that they finally won a series.

Should be a great matchup. I just don't see PHX defense being that strong. I think the Preds in 5.

Coyotes fan here in peace.

I am stocked about this matchup. Although I fear that if our offense struggled against a mediocre defense and goalie, will we be able to score any against a great defense and (arguably) the best goalie in the league?!

Here’s to a good series!

I think our style of play is much much different than chicago. we go to the net. we are bigger. we are faster. we have more skill. not to sound like one of the elitist types I hate, but I flat out think we are better than them in all areas.

I think they have an emotional letdown in game 1, they win game 2, we hold serve in 3 and 4, give them a feel good game in game 5 and close them out here in game 6.
They remind me a lot of us last year. As a whole, a very good team. They have a couple of dmen that can really move the puck and shoot the puck. They have arguably the 2nd or 3rd best passer in the history of the NHL (Whitney), a very underrated sniper in Vrbata, and incredible power forward in Doan. They have some skilled players sprinkled throughout their 2nd-4th lines, but overall (like us vs Canucks last year) I don't see their talent matching up against ours. I could be wrong... but that's just how I see it.

And I see that 3 other people have said the same thing as me. Sorry for sounding like a broken record.

But with that being said, remember how much of a fit we gave the Canucks? I expect them to do the same to us.

I'll admit that I'm a pessimist (or "jaded optimist" as I like to call it ), but something about this makes me very nervous. Preds better have their heads on straight from the first puck drop.

We just need to go out there and play our game. Get pucks to the net from all angles.

I think our power play will be much better in this series, I also expect to see more Smith and less yip.

It's a shame the Coyotes are such classless scum, I'd be more congratulatory towards Smith and his excellent performance if they had class and dignity.

-Not even going to mention the whole Raffi Torres thing....

So Predators, I always believed you were the best in the West this year, sweep these desert dogs to Quebec! Turn them into the Quebec Arctic Foxes! Good luck!
Roszival was literally bleeding all over the ice because of a hit from behind from Hayes. But don't let facts get in they way of your excuses.

Literally I don't think there was one pushover team in either conference this year. The closest I would have picked before the playoffs was the Panthers and you see how well they are playing.

Just looking at the teams compared forwards to forwards, D to D, and goaltending. I don't see how you can't say Nashville shouldn't be the favorite. The Preds have the better team. Call me cocky or whatever but this year feels different from the Preds. I don't think they are just happy to win that first series or put up a decent fight anymore. I think the goal is the cup and they legit feel they can get there. I'm confident about this team. I think the only Western team that can beat us when we are playing near our best is the Blues and the Kings to a lesser extent.

I would be very disappointed if the Preds lost but I would have no problem cheering Phoenix on the rest of the way.

The same thought crossed my mind.

The Coyotes are fairly old as well and you have to wonder if they can take another physical beating and still come out on top.

Their D is not that great (more of a "team D") so they will almost need to totally rely on Smith. I think our D matches up very well against their forwards.

I don't like predictions but I like our chances.

Exactly my thoughts. Phoenix is a crafty opponent, I really respect what they have done. I am not going to make any predictions, but I like our depth and goaltending more.

Power play is going to be crucial to win the series. We need hal gill back

I'm not saying I don't like our chances. I do think we have the better team top to bottom. But, I also know playing against a physical team with a hot netminder is not going to be easy.

Also, does the fact that we have a better regular season record than the Yotes, yet they get home ice because they won their weak division bother anyone else?

It does me too, but if you don't have division winners as top three seeds, why have divisions at all?

I like they idea that each division winner is guaranteed a playoff spot and then seeding is determined based on overall record.

Naa it's just the way it is. I think we ought to be used to it by now.

Besides, this team is good at home and on the road. Their road confidence has to be through the roof after beating Detroit twice in a row at the Joe. That's a pretty tall task, and the boys handled it without blinking.

This one will be a hard fought series, but I don't think it will be nearly as much of a heart-attack-in-the-making as the Detroit series. We saw Detroit really just take over games near the end, and our defense/Rinne had to stand tall to keep leads. This Predators team is a very hard team to shake.

On the other hand, Phoenix needs to tighten it up at the ends of games if they want to stand a chance. Letting Chicago come back and tie it up in so many games, and so late in some of the games, tells me they are prone to errors when you push them against a wall. Even if they have a lead.

Early leads, crashing the net, finishing hits, and sticking to an aggressive, in-your-face forecheck are keys as always.

I think we can get into their heads, Smith especially. If Nashville can get Phoenix rattled then it's over.

I'm taking Nashville in 6 again.
