Kypreos: Luongo Has Asked For a Trade (All Luongo Talk Here)

Dan Murphy's twitter
Quote:
#canucks Luongo says he'll waive his no trade clause if Gillis asks him to.

Jason Botchford's twitter
Quote:
Will you waive your no trade? Luongo; yes. Of course. If they ask me to.
https://twitter.com/#!/botchford/sta...55082720903169

From the tone of the interview, Canucks writers seem to believe Luongo is acknowledging he may have to move on.

#SNPlayoffs #Canucks Luongo asks for trade. Van didn't even need to ask him to waive NTC. He tells them himself in exit meeting he wants out
This may end all speculation about the Canucks trading Schneider. The only option for them now is to move Roberto.

Of course he'd have to acknowledge the possibility. It's up to the 'Nucks management now.

He'll end up in Tampa. Really no other spot

Not sure why this is classified as a rumor when he's already been quoted by a number of reporters as saying it.

I'd say Toronto is the favorite, unless Luongo actually says he wants to go back to Florida.

Which teams could realistically have use for him? I would think Columbus, Toronto, Tampa Bay, New Jersey are at least somewhat interested.

If he is coming cheap, I'd love him in Toronto. First elite goaltender since like...Belfour 8 years ago.

Could this site handle a Luongo trade to Toronto that either did or did not involve Gardiner, Colborne or Kadri? Egad...

What's gone down in the last couple months has really spoken to Luongo's character. Put the team first, not even a whisper of discontent, and supported Schneider the whole way. For a guy who, earlier in his career, had a bit of a label for wanting things his way, Luongo has been the consummate team player.

Colborne is a top ~5 prospect but he isn't a blue chipper.

Colborne + 1 year dump (take your pick Lombardi, Armstrong, Connolly)

for Luongo is fair.

If it's Kadri or Gardiner then....

Luongo is a class act. You can tell how tight knit this group is. He'd be willing to move to help this team get better. I wish Luongo or Schneider all the best whichever one leaves. I feel bad for him. Really is a misunderstood person.

Totally agree. The guy is about team through and through. Major props to him.

I don't like using the 'Other' tag (I find it really easy to lose it on the page) and it was neither a 'Confirmed Trade' or 'Confirmed Signing'.

What would Tampa bay offer for Luongo? He has a massive contract but he is still a top10 goalie in the nhl. Brett Connolly + Tampa Bay 1st in 2012 for Luongo?

We don't want Colborne. Overrated IMO. Gardiner or the 5th because other teams will give more than Colborne.

Schenn doesn't fit the Canucks uptempo system. He's not a good enough skater and his hockey awareness at both ends of the rink is suspect.

Everyone knew this was going to happen. Your time is up . If you don't play while your team is on the verge of elimination! Toronto, Chicago and Tampa Bay start calling...

Nope it isn't fair. As a Toronto fan be more realistic otherwise stick with Reimer and hope improves enough to just squeak into 8th. Or have Luongo and compete for as high as 5th if the players who broke out this year to play well again. Luongo is not being traded for garbage.

I think TB is a good fit for both sides

I'm not sure where Luongo's value is. I don't think its where Van can be asking for anything like a top 10 pick or blue chip prospect.

This is not reflective of Luongo's ability but the length of his contract...and NMC assuming he won't just go anywhere.

If I had to guess I'd think something like Malone, Det 1st, Garon

I also don't think you can discount the value of getting a quick resolution to this situation one way or another. If they want to go with Schneider then moving Luongo soon is critical to relationship with Schneider.

Tampa Bay never ever ever agrees to this.
