Toronto.would have to outbid Tampa and vice versa.

I think Tampa has more to offer that they would seem to be willing to part with.
Det 1st and Malone for Luongo, Raymond and a 2nd is a good deal
For Toronto, I think it has to be Schenn+, but I can't see what the + VAN would want.

Plus if Lou can't handle.the pressure in VAN, imagine him in TO.... Lol

Doubtful. Cannot see Tampa giving up two top 10 pics for Luongo and his contract.

My guess:

Malone
Prospect
2nd round pick

Holy overpay.

If Tampa actually offered that Toronto bows out and is thankful they didn't get involved

Most GM's have a shelf life of like 5 years. You not only put the team in jeopardy right now if the trade doesn't work out, but also put the teams future in jeopardy by taking on a veteran goalie. That's what I mean by coming cheap.

Tampa might not have a problem with taking on Luongo since they have Lecavalier for life anyways, that is why no one except MAYBE Tampa is going to give up a lot for Luongo. He's 33 years old and he isn't Tim Thomas. He'll most likely regress like Brodeur has in the past years.

The way Schneider has played this season means: 5.3M in cap space >>> Luongo from Vancouver's perspective.

Vancouver can go after Rick Nash through trade, Parise/Suter through UFA.

I think Luongo needs to go back to an American market/team.

I really don't see him going to Toronto ending well for either team nor player. Toronto would be even more pressure than he was experiencing in Vancouver or on the Olympic team.

The expectations would be really high.

I think TB obviously makes sense given he probably would like going back to Florida where he lived for awhile when playing with the Panthers. Also, the Yzerman connection.

Something around Luongo for Umberger?

Both give some salary and take some back.

Vancouver need to get bigger up front!

I don't see TB offering Connolly and their 1st. I could see Connolly and Det's 1st possibly

Yeah, there's no point of him coming back with Vancouver next year...he needs a change of scenery. The Canucks get something for him and just hand the reins over to Schneider full time.

Unless Kesler's in the deal, I don't see that working.

That is just plain awful. Van isn't getting either of those assets, there isn't gonna be any other teams he would go to so no need to pay a big price. Philly 2nd + Ohlund.

Your right. It will be more along the lines of Connolly + Det 1st or Panik + TB 1st.

Make no mistake Luongo will still return a good return, there are too many teams that need a good goalie.

Hmm. Vokoun is an UFA! Better option in my eyes!

the salary vs cap hit is really bad as well and will make it hard for smaller markets to eat

No one.

NO team is offering a top-5 pick for him - ELCs and young talent are too highly coveted in this game.

Be prepared for late 1sts or early 2nds, 2nd/3rd line roster players and perhaps decent-to-good prospects.

Vancouver is going to have to take some salary back even if it's of the dead cap hit variety for a couple years.

Ask yourself this. If Luongo was a free agent, would there be a team willing to give him an 10 year deal with a 5.3 per year cap hit?

The answer is probably a pretty unanimous no.

I would personally guarantee - and bet large sums of money - that the Canucks have no interest in Luke Schenn.

Luongo also won't return Connolly+1st (are you crazy?!) but he'll also return more than people think. He's not a salary dump just because the Canucks get value from moving his cap space... He's a top-5 goalie in the league and had 15 playoff wins last year.

This is pretty much what Dreger said on the team 1040. Paraphrasing Dreger, "Many Gm's still consider Luongo an Elite Goalie."

You are not going to get a elite goalie for spare parts...

Bingo, this whole situation makes me like Luo even more. Classy guy.

This probably means that he wont be coming to Tampa though. The only way I could see the trade happening is if Yzerman got Luo on a steal because he refused to go anywhere else. From the looks of things though, Luongo is gonna allow Gillis to get a fair trade in return, which will likely be too steep for Yzerman. Luongo is really showing some character if this is true. Good for him and Vancouver.

Agree totally. He is definitely a great goalie despite his rep.

I think Edmonton should make a move for him, although with his cap hit it may jeopardize their chances of resigning their rookies.
