No nicknames. Brendan Shanahan. This guys not a Ranger. His rulings are so biased against Rangers that it's like he's flexing and proving to the league he has no affiliation to the Rangers.

Dominic Moore should have been suspended for his hit on Feds.
Hagelin/Carkner incident, ruling, and remarks.
Neil with a hit to head - Boyle with concussion. Nothing
Milan Michalek = ?

This has nothign to do with who is paying him. He was a straight up player and person, no matter which team he played for. And intelligent. The standards that he has set as to what is and what is not a suspendible offense is bizarre.

That was a perfectly clean check, and frankly, so was Neil's on Boyle.

the Sauer hit was clean. the concussion was because his helmetless head hit the dasher.

that would give ANYONE a concussion.

I'd almost rather Michalek be out there. Besides his goal, he's done almost nothing in the series. Putting someone else into the line-up for him at this point might help the Sens. Maybe they keep Silfverberg in the line-up over Stone as I think Stone is the more effective player right now.

Apparently, Shanahan has acquired the footage from last night's game (according to Sportsnet). Can't wait to see what comes of this. He has to make a decision prior to game 7.

Girardi knocked Silfverberg off the puck easily all night

Yeah, for all the raving Michalek receives, "9MM" has been shooting blanks. Might be wise to leave him in there.

you can not possibly want Michalek to play in this game. Taking away weapons from Ottawa will only help us.

Sauer hit was clean.

Neil's on Boyle IMO was not. It wasn't really a LATE hit, but it was not incidental contact to the head on a whole body check, he TARGETED the head. He raised himself up to drive his shoulder into Boyle's head. That is supposed to be illegal. He didn't leave his feet until impact which is normal, but he clearly took a headshot.

MDZ's hit on Neil was not even borderline, arms down, puck there. Neil got stung and then was frustrated he couldn't draw a penalty with his act.

Prust's hit on Karlson was clearly late.

Neil's hit on Richards was not only late, but nowhere near the puck, and borderline Intent to Injure.

Of course these are just my opinions, but I think they are reasonable.

Supplementary discipline will be a fine here. The the NHL can put up their hands and say, "see, we really are calling it both ways."

Not any more. How are NHL fans not grasping this? It wasn't late. He didn't leave his feet. But he targeted the head. End of story. It is spelled out now, should have been a penalty and it should have been a suspension. Surprise surprise though when its a pen or a Canadian team. No penalty, no discipline.

Wait, I haven't been on the main forum because I want to not getting annoyed by words on a computer screen.. but are they saying that DZ's hit on Neil was dirty and he should be suspended?

watch girardi's leg. it trails off as he finishes the final kick. you can see 2 kicks with the top of his foot then as the video cuts away/it trails off you can see skate blade aiming for the knee and in the full length video girardi jumps up right away and goes to the ref.

NO DOUBT if there is conclusive video he gets suspended. There's no excuse for that 'reckless, dangerous, and intentional' kick. no place for that

edit* if anybody else has the cbc video that wouldn't mind tossing it on youtube, maybe it shows the final kick?

Given current criteria it was not perfectly clean. Back in the day it was a clean hit. Today, it's questionable. But in Neil you have guy who has mastered that type of hit.

Neil deliberately targets players and hits them to injure them. There is no question about that. As they cross the blue line Neil has Boyle squarely in his sites and lines him up to perfection. It's as plain as day.

I grudgingly admire it actually.

Other than his more clownish behavior, the Rangers need a guy just like Neil and they have needed him for years.

Umm, probably the 5 minute major he got assessed which resulted in the Rangers having a 5 minute powerplay?

Since the lockout Neil has had a handful of incidents of leaving his feet to hit Rangers up high (Anisimov & Prucha incidents most notably).... When the league came out with that list of "hits to hurt" players a few years ago (which included Ryan Hollweg), they forgot to include Chris Neil.
