The people who picked TUSA made them look very bad. As I stated on the Hlinka thread, there were stark ommisions from that team including a setup/playmaker as well as a general lack of grit at forward. Appert did a great job with what he had in not getting blown out every game. Had he been involved from the onset, I don't believe that is the team that would have been entered in the tourney.

i believe that was one reason that he was moved to wing.

He needed another year of play in the U - especially after missing 1/3 of the controlled circumstances he had played in last season.

Sure doesn't look like it. He has been playing great hockey in Sarnia all year and his confidence and poise with the puck as of late has been extremely noticeable. His strongest skill would definitely be he skating, he makes it look effortless. He's been getting a bit of powerplay time too lately with all the injuries on defence and he is very effective when given an opportunity. Still two more years until his draft year, I think he could be putting up point per game numbers by then.

My point was this, he IS two years away and he's getting the same kind of controlled ice in Sarnia that he got last year in CR. He'd have been a Top 2 defenseman on that team and gotten 10 minutes more ice a game under a good system and a good coach.

ACL...the way things are going for the Top Prospects this year, NOT playing is a PLUS.

If Nichushkin plays in CHL next year he could be top 3 in the draft.

LOL...and what basis do you have to make this absurd accusation?

So a Barrie fan bumps a 55 day old thread to protect one of his players.

I see no objectivity with a discussion with you. Sorry. I'll pass.

Ekblad could fall? Sure there's always the chance, but this guy is incredible. Solid as a rock, his body of work with Barrie this year as an underager was simply incredible.

And DeAngelo gets a lot of praise, but he's definitely a tier below these guys.

The statement didn't make a lot of sense when you said it, which is why I (and others) looked for your reasoning.

Not close to him, that comparison needs to stop. To me he seems like a mix of Kovalchuk and Hossa. So still great to be compared to them. He has taken his game to the next level in the playoffs, especially against Quebec. After game 4 (they lost the first 3 games) he had 2 goals, 6 assists in the final 3 of that series. When they needed him most, he took the team on his back.

At 16, he is averaging a goal per game in the playoffs and nearly 2 PPG. Quebec had a decent team, too and he was great against them.

Well he does have a point, you have no explanation whatsoever on why you believe he could fall. Ekblad just won ROY as an underager and is already a noticeable presence on the Barrie blueline. By the time Ekblad's draft year rolls around he will already be a man amongst boy's in the OHL. Definitely see him challenging for 1st overall.
