Let's just hope Clemmensen can avoid any brutal goals.

While your at it, why don't you throw in Jimmy Carson and Bernie Nichols as former 70+ goal scorers!
Hey, YOU were the one that mentioned recent memory and opened that door. If you don't care about other players, don't make ridiculous statements inviting comparison.

I don't think he gets traded because has yet to play with a big power forward to complete that first line.

But there is only so many excuses before the team moves on. I'm still not sure he fits in Torts system, especially in the playoffs.

I do not think he is bad player, or that he doesn't want to win.
What player would Gabby need? Hagelin is the perfect compliment. These excuses are outta control.

Gaborik has a terrible skillset. That is why he doesn't make an impact. The only things he possesses are "batting practice" speed and "batting practice" shot but that don't mean squat in game action.

Terrible skill set? Doesn't translate to game action? This is pure gold.

Sorry, this is not the right thread for this stuff. I'm done.

Chico, Upshall did not get fingered on that play. He performed the donkey punch.

Can't believe the Devils may actually blow this..would have been so beneficial for us to play them next round if we get there

I guess it depends on your definition of dynamic.

Gaborik brings dynamic speed, and stretches defenses. He also, is, yes the only NYR not names Jagr to score 40 goals since, I believe 95-96. And he has done it twice.

Vanek is a player we need, but dynamic isn't a term i'd use... he is a goal mouth threat, has a great shot Vinny... I mean the guy isn't even a 60 point player any more.

When I think dynamic, I think the kind of players who score, are a physical presence and seem to be everywhere at once. There aren't too many of those. Kovalchuk is one. Ovechkin sometimes is. Malkin is.

Yes "nowhere near" is an overstatement but if you think Thomas Vanek is more dynamic than Marian Gaborik you haven't seen a lot of Vanek. And I assume we're talking about the 2012 version of Lecavalier, not the 2007. I'll take Gabby over both any day of the week.

Agree. Lecavalier especially is light years ahead of Gaborik as an all around player throughout his career and I would trade Gaborik for Vanek straight up tomorrow.

Hagelin is not the perfect compliment because he is not a first liner. He is also not a dominating power forward, he is a guy that is all about chasing down pucks. Richards doesn't help either because he can't create space along the boards by himself(its not his thing).

Hags isn't going to be as effective against big physical Dmen.

The only way Hags would be perfect for Gabs is that we had a speedy transitional center in trap/transition system.

Richards is not fast enough to create on the Rush with those guys nor is our breakouts good at springing them.

Gabs is what he is. You can say he is not a versatile player. I agree with that but he tried all season(most of the time anyways)to play in Torts system. 41 goals don't lie.

I can't blame either him or Torts on this one, I think Sather got Gaborik prematurely before we had established an identity with this team.

The 2 unanswered goals by the Panthers really quieted the 7 Devils fans there.

Referring to Gaborik as a choke artist in the playoffs for the Rangers is not what I would call a "ridiculous statement" by any stretch of the imagination!

Devils actually sell out playoff games...LOL. Too bad they can't sell out regular season tickets. Then again...I heard you could get tix for $30 for tonight's game at the Pebble. So it's not that surprising after all.

I get the impression you'd trade him straight up for Vitale, Vermette or Volpatti.

In my relatively short time watching hockey, if Florida beats the Devils tonight, it will be one of the bigger upsets I've seen.

Did anyone see the fans?!

My God!!

You had one girl look depressed as ****, in another section, a mother with her 3-4 fours kids and her husband, with the hubby talking to the kids and her looking like she wants to stab somebody.

Devils outshooting Florida nearly 3 to 1.

Rumors are that Kovalchuk is playing with a hurt groin.

Yeah trading Gabs for Lecav is silly or Vanek. You think Vanek plays physical night in or night out?!

I think Nash for Gabs would make sense, but Gaborik would never waive his trade clause(nor should he).

Us losing to the Senators would be worse.

I actually want the Devils to win this series. I'd much rather play them over Washington.
