This is a hypothetical thread so don't get all pissy screaming at me saying I don't know anything about Vancouver. Just an outsider's observations.

What are reasonable destinations for Luongo? I know I'd be scared if he finds his way to Tampa.
hmmm.

But assuming he is you'll definitely have the Leafs, Lightning, Oilers, Blue Jackets and perhaps even the Devils bidding for his services. Luongo is a proven goaltender, signed to a fair cap hit and has extensive regular season and playoff success. He has also posted great stats on both powerhouse teams and crappy teams which is obviously encouraging for the teams looking to acquire him.

I think NHL GM's tend to value Luongo far higher than HFBoards ever will. 727 NHL regular season games played, 61 playoff games played, 3 Vezina nominations, 2 Lester B. Pearson nominations, 1 Hart nomination, 1 Jennings win, 1 Gold Medal win as starter, and he led his team to Game 7 SCF just last season! He just turned 33 and has many, many years left playing at an above stellar level and is actually in contention for the best Canuck thus far in the series versus the Kings.

Doesn't mean he's going anywhere. Just that he would and said so to clear the air. They'll want too much for him anyway and he's not worth it to other teams.

While true, lets be real here. It all comes down to Gillis finding a buyer. Luongo is certainly going to be shopped.

And I was mainly pointing out people thinking Luongo was totally staying put. Now its all about the sticker price.

Luongo says if I'm back in Vancouver -- good. If I'm somewhere else -- that's good too.

Gillis says all options have to be explored and Schnieder's play has opened the door.

Big Lou is done and at 6.7 million for 6 more years -- few teams can touch that. But if you really want proof -- what would Lou sign for is he was a UFA? Probably somewhere around 3-4 million. A 33 year old tender, getting paid 6.7 million over the next 6, and showing signs of cracks is NOT going to bring top value but it should bring some decent NHL'ers and a 2nd rounder.

$6.7 salary but $5.3 cap hit, which is what most teams concern themselves with. How many teams wouldnt pay $5.2 for a legit #1 goalie, regardless of what detractors like to throw at him? $3-$4 as a UFA? In a market that paid Ville "19 goals" Leino $4.5 for 6 years? That'd be funny if it wasn't so naive...

Luongo in net likely gets Toronto and certainly gets Tampa into the playoffs this year. How much is making the playoffs worth it to these teams? You know GMs get fired for missing playoffs too often, right? I think finding a buyer for Luongo is the least of Gillis' problems this summer.

Yeah I think the playoff money made by Tampa or Toronto (not that TOR needs the $$$ but still) would more than offset their worries about his salary.

The cap hit is manageable and isn't a 35+ contract. It's really not as bad as a contract as people make it out to be.

The Luongo bidding war Game

I know there are a few other Luongo threads popping up, but I was hoping we can keep this simple and try to determine his actual HF value here in simple terms.

Simple game:

Fans of teams interested in Luongo: post a proposal for Luongo. If another fan proposals a perceived better proposal, reply to it and provide a better offer.

Canucks fans: reply to presented proposals with a simple Yes or No. No commentary.

Fans that don't want Luongo on their team: find another thread.

Please post any commentary/explanation on his value in the other thread. Just post a trade proposal only as a fan of whatever team would have interest in Luongo. Reply to any proposals that exceed yours if you want to "beat the better offer"

So, as a fan of any team interested in Luongo, what is your offer, and are you interested enough in him to beat the other offers presented?

Offers only. No explanation/commentary.

Offer is from a Canuck fan, so it won't count. That needs to come from a TBay fan.

I think if we can generate a few offers from different team's fans here, this could turn into a good gauge of his value here at HF.

Though, there are a lot of idiots here who instead of ignoring a thread they don't like, have to crap all over it.

31st overall + Cody Goloubef/Matt Calvert?

I think something similar to this is what will actually go down.

I wouldn't offer any more than Ohlund and a second. Ohlund is most likely retiring and isn't a 35+ contract so you don't take on salary, Ohlund retires a canuck, and you get your cap space.

Otherwise, no dice. No reason for this team to take on a 6.7 million dollar goaltender for that long.

Out of all the offers presented (ignoring the ones not from their fan base) so far this is the one I'd accept.

Solid offer for Luongo.

I guess there's no pressing issue for the Bolts to make the playoffs then.
