Cristobal Huet

Now a UFA...is he good enough to be looked at as a back up for someone? He put up pretty good numbers although in the Swiss League.

Not sure if he wants to come back to the NHL. But I could see someone offering him a cheap 1 yr deal as a backup. Something like that is one of those low risk signings. If it doesn't work, didn't cost anything. If it does work, then it didn't cost them anything, and they received a great backup.

But if the promising backups get taken, I can see someone giving Huet a shot.

He has been playing inferior talent in Swiss leagues and is gonna be 37

He at best would get a Gerber type 2 way deal

Gotta be better than budaj. For that reason I'd welcome him back on the Habs on a one year deal. Did a real nice job during his time in Montreal.

He can be a mentor in TO if they fail to get a true starter. Sign him two-way and let him and Scrivens challenge for backup role.

Makes a ton of sense for Montreal as a backup playing around 10-12 games. I still think Huet would put up a .910 SV%

Carey Price can not nor should he have to handle a 70 game load

I'd love to give him a second look with the Habs, provided it was a cheap contract. Never should have traded him when the Habs did.

Sad as it may be, I could see the Flames taking a look.

If Kipper is traded and then at training camp it becomes clear that Irving/Ramo is not going to cut it, it could be a good move to bring in Huet to share #1 duties.

Loved watching him play in mtl and would like him back there too. Budaj isn't that bad but it's hard to get in a groove playing as little as he did and don't forget the terrible team in front of him this year.

How do you figure?

He played 72 games last year and finished with .923 save %.
He played 65 games this year and finished with .916.

Neither year was his performance an issue for the team from fatigue or anything of the sort.

I think Huet is better than given credit for. The only reason he was sent overseas was his abortion of a contract, much like Redden being in the AHL. They are NHL caliber players who's cap hits have pushed them out of the league.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Huet sign on as an NHL backup next season.

Too quick to say he's washed up.
If it weren't for that gigantic contract he would have been playing in the NHL the last few years.
Who knows maybe he is next years Eliott.

Nothing wrong with a good steak.

Besides, medium rare is the perfect temperature. Juicy and firm. Mmmm....

Looks like I just made dinner plans!

if he plays a great WC for frace, there could be a decent chance that he gets a contract like Gerber got
