Disagree with Rinne over Smith. Only started six more games, and Smith was ahead of him in GAA, S%, shutouts. Rinne racked up more wins, but he was playing for a much better team.

Meh. Not a big Smith fan. Racks up nice numbers, but has a knack of letting goals in at the worst possible time for his team.

Interesting to see so many people saying that Quick SHOULD win it

He has a real good case but nothing about it obviously puts him over Lundqvist. I wouldn't be surprised to either win it, though I certainly hope Lundqvist does

Well Hank does have a much better defense in front of him than Quick does.

I don't really believe that. The Kings also have a very good defense and that certainly helped out Quick

Quick and Henrik are close. Henrik probably could have wrapped it up at the end of the season but had a bad stretch of a 3+ GA for a few games. That hurt.

The Kings have a solid defensive system and gave up slightly less shots on goal per game than the Rangers did. Rangers and Kings are pretty close defensively.

Its nearly a push between quick and hank so I think henrik should get the nod due to his division and reputation

I've watched a lot of Kings games on Center Ice...their defense is not even close to the Rangers. One thing that keeps their shots total down is that Quick is ridiculous at not giving up rebounds. The lack of second shots is because of Quick, not their defense.

Good argument. Can't wait to see them face off in round 2.

Congrats to Henrik. Fingers crossed he get the nod.

I think Henke wins it, especially after all the prior nominations.

the atlantic was a significantly higher scoring division than the pacific and henke and quick had pretty much the same stats this year.

I don't think the division argument is as relevant as people think. Out of 82 games the Rangers played 24 of them against the Atlantic division this year. The Kings probably played 5-10 against the Atlantic. Not a huge difference.

When we're talking about extremely small statistical differences (.02 GAA, 0.01 save %) it is a huge factor.

Especially when one division is by far the most offensive in the league and one is second to last (difference of 111 goals).

What you just described is a huge difference, when stats are identical.

My prediction at the beginning of the year was Rangers over Kings in six! Gotta get them back for the BS OT loss in the first game of the season

he WOULD do if they were in perfect health, but for large portions of the season one could argue that Hank had only 3 nhl defenseman infront of him.

It'll really sting if hank doesn't get it. I know individual honours won't count for much if the season doesn't extend past tomorrow, but he deserves it.

That's some pretty serious hyperbole right here....and an argument you would lose if you made it.

I really don't think you're being fair to the Rangers' defense here. Girardi, McDonagh, and del Zotto were there all year. Staal the second half of the year, and while he may not have always been the Marc Staal we know, he was certainly NHL-level.

Sauer, Eminger, Bickel, Stralman....all certainly played NHL-level...Bickel and Stralman are doing it right now.

And the Rangers defense also includes how well their forwards come back into their zone and block shots, deflect passes, etc.

yep. Ppl forget when we had Woywitka, Eminger, Bickel and Stralman in the lineup, sometimes 3 of the 4 at the same time.

Stu Bickel should not be playing regular NHL minutes...Stralman, while being great in the playoffs and for some stretches in this season, was also equally putrid for long stretches as well, kinda unsurprising for a guy who was playing in Europe to start the year.

If we had Staal, Girardi, MDZ, MCD and Sauer all year long, then, I can understand that argument.

We didn't, not to mention MDZ has been playing with a screwed up hip for how long now?
