All three well deserved. I think any one of them could receive the award without much arguement from me.

We all know who is going to win and its well deserved. Still a nice accomplishment for Peks to be nominated again.

#35 will be the first number to be hoisted to the rafters at Bridgestone one day.

Wrong, number 11 will be first.
Good for Rinne and the franchise. He won't win but it's good!

Legwand goes up first. I think Erat gets consideration, depending on how much longer he stays and whether or not we win a Cup, but Rinne could definitely find himself in the rafters.
I'm still thinking Lundqvist will win it just because he gets so much exposure, but I would love to be wrong and see Rinne get his due.

I believe it's voted on at the end of the regular season.

Correct; the voting is already over. They just announce the top three and then unveil the winner in Vegas.

Anyway back on topic, the Vezina is one of the few awards I respect since it's voted by the GMs. Well deserved Rinne!
Completely agree. Anyways, Rinne is very deserving. Our MVP no less.

I think a player should have to be an elite player at their respective position at some point to be considered for number retirement. It's a big deal, or should be a big deal.

Rinne, Poile and Trotz are likely to be perennial nominees in their categories, largely due to their consistency and not due to any one fabulous year.
Most of the time there will be one or two players/GMs/coaches who have an off the chart season and end up winning the award. If there is ever a year that nobody stands out head and shoulders above the rest then they will likely win that year.

And none of them will win their respective awards.

not this year... but some year when nobody is head and shoulders above the others, they will win, almost a 'lifetime acheivement' sort of thing...

You can bet the NY overhype is getting this one. Get to host Stanley Peks that is all that matters.

To be consistently nominated is still an achievement though...

If a player is culturally significant to a club, there is precedent.

Reason: removed reference to Legwand since the boards can't handle it
