Quick Officially Named as a Vezina Finalist

http://lakingsinsider.com/2012/04/25...ophy-finalist/

Quote:
Quick led the league with 10 shutouts, was second with a 1.95 goals-against average and was fifth with a .929 save percentage. Lundqvist had a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage, while Rinne had a 2.39 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. No goalie has ever won a Vezina Trophy while playing for the Kings.
I am still hoping for a Hart nomination. We already know that we are going to be paying out the wazoo for this year Congratulations go to Quick's agent on his good fortune

He had the best numbers so it was inevitable but it is nice to see it made official.

Quick really is the only player worthy of the Vezina this year. Henry is close but he didn't have as good of a season when it all comes down to it.

I don't care of Quick wins the Vezina as long as he wins the Conn Smythe.

I want him to win BOTH of those AND take a home-town discount when he re-signs.

"Jonathan Quick is the only reason the Los Angeles Kings made the playoffs and are now 12 wins away from the Stanley Cup. Frankly, he had less to work with than Lundqvist. The Rangers were fourth in the League in blocked shots; the Kings were second to last. The Rangers were 17th in takeaways; the Kings were 28th. Quick faced 347 shots shorthanded to Lundqvist's 263, and still posted a better save percentage."

Vezina and Hart nominations should be coming. Without a doubt we aren't in the playoffs without him. Even an average goalie wouldn't have got us close to the playoffs.

28 of 73 games, one or fewer goals. That's insane. His GAA in those 28 games is roughly 0.64.

Not to get ahead of myself here, more just for conversation at this point, but has a goalie ever won the Vezina, Hart and Conn Smythe all in one year?

East. Coast. Bias.

No way does Quick win this, his numbers aren't much better than Hank's and NY won the East.

Quick's agent is a very happy with this news. Doughty got $7 million for a "nomination".

But, but, but, the Rangers finished first in the East, so obviously Lundqvist was the better goalie.

We used that same reasoning for Hank the last few year about getting us in the playoffs and it didnt work. Well this year we would be about a 7-8 seed without him. I dont think you can be stunned if either one wins but I never see anyone mention the divisions they play in which are like night and day. Hank has been the most consistently good goalie since the lockout. I think Quick is a stud who is not a one year wonder......hell, Hank picked him as his first goalie at the all-star game so he definitely respects him. Also, regarding the shots are the ones from Malkin, Crosby, Giroux, Kovalchek tougher than those in the PAC division

Good luck in the playoffs going forward.

Congrats Quickie! Well done indeed!

Do what you have to do to reorganize the payroll. But please, pay the man and keep him between the Kings pipes.

Well deserved. And he should win it too.

Best Kings player since Gretzky (and I am a huge Palffy fan)

Congrats to Quick! I missed Vachon's era but have been a fan since 89'. Quick is by far and away the best goalie I have seen on the Kings.

You were the one in the game day thread in Game 5 that said the series was going to 7 games so I'll take your prediction!

Winner! Winner! Jonathan Quick is cooking prime rib for dinner!

Out of curiousity, since I honestly do not know, did Crosby play the Rangers this season?

For those who think Quick will resign in the $5-$6 million range, the Vezina nominees don't look like it will support that idea. Rinne has a cap hit of $7 million per while Lundqvist is at $6.875 million. If those two are used as comparible's, and I don't see why they wouldn't be, then Quick has a very strong case to push for $7 mill-plus.

If he gets a Hart nomination, a COnn SMythe, etc. it'll only further his argument.

It's soon going to come time for fans to decide if they want to pay that much for a goalie or let him go elsewhere I think. Even my earlier prediction of $6.3 - $6.5 million per could go out the window.

Money should not be an issue at all with Quick, I am no Lombardi fan, but he would not dare nickel and dime Quick.

The Kings need to just give Jonathan Quick a blank check, and whatever he puts on it he is worth every dime.

Hard to beleive that Lundquist has yet to win the Vezina. I imagein that all three fan bases feel their guy should get it. I know I 100% feel quick's season has been more impressive.

Now don`t be greedy Kings` fans, leave the guy something new to win the next season Theodore won Hart+Vezina in 2001 (or thereabouts) It was/is an exceptional season for Quick, he probably would have managed to make Columbus a playoff team. Nobody can complain if he wins the Vezina and I always thought he deserves Hart over Malkin.

Quick has his sights set on another piece of hardware.

That's what I love about Quick, it's never about him or personal accolades. He's super competitive and he wants to win a trophy that matters most in this sport.

All Lombardi can hear is: cha-ching!!

But if that is the same sound as the "trophy" Quick and the entire team really want to win come June.....so be it.

Congrats to Quick and let not that nomination distract you from anything but the "prize"!
