Lack of High End Forward Talent Available

With scoring way down in these playoffs, a lot of teams will be looking for offensive help this offseason. The problem is there is very little available. Zach Parise and Alexander Semin are the only two ufas with a scoring pedigree under 35. Rick Nash will be available at a king's ransom. Teams will probably overpay for forward help, so who else will realistically be available by trade this summer? As fan of the Flyers, I could see JVR thrown into the mix. Anybody else?

EDM's 1st over all but that would cost also.

Huselius may be a low risk high reward option if he signs at a much nicer number than $4.5

Yeah him and David Jones are two more ufas under 35 with a 20 goal campaign but I don't think they have the pedigree or potential of Semin, Nash, JVR, and Parise. They will get overpaid cause of the market. Any guys realistically up for trade?

Semin and Parise are certainly the best of the group, but there's 10 or so lesser talents who could help a team.

I think it'll be fine Staal and Edmonton's pick may be up for trade and Parise may potentially hit FA, so it could be an interesting summer.

I don't know about anything in excess of $4 million, but I would be surprised if Jones receives anything less than $3.5 million, perhaps upwards of $3.75 million.

Ballard and a pick? In spite of his concussion, he had a great season and was our best defenseman during the playoffs due to the very small number of mistakes and mental errors and the checks he threw.

if he doesn't take a 50% pay cut after his injuries and to go play for a better team, I don't see someone signing him.

That being said, Huselius at $2M for a year or 2 could be an awesome buy this offseason.

David Jones and PA Parenteau don't have the goal scoring pedigree of JVR?

Never been a Huselius fan as I believe the creep should be in jaill. I hope his days in the NHL are done.

Is Kessel really on the block? I thought Burke was going to build around him for a while.

I think you can subtract Kessel. No way Burke moves him given the grief he took over the price to get him.

Hell, for 2 million on a 1 year deal, past or not, he'd be a hell of a set up man for our 2nd or 3rd line.

Leafs would like to sign Moen/Gaustad and Penner for a 3rd line of Kulemin-Gaustad/Moen-Penner instead of Connolly-Lombardi-Armstrong :/
