I usually trust him to make the big time saves, but it's those little ones you gotta worry about sometimes.
They all need to play better.
Florida might not even have played as good as we did on Saturday when they shut us out. I also think Florida looked worse last night than game 4 when we shut them out. They had more pressure, and puck possession that game. As well as WAY more PP opportunities. They will play MUCH better tomorrow. The Devils need to also, but I never know of I can trust to them.
There was just too many times last night later in the game like midway 2nd to midway 3rd period Florida looked a lot better than us. Only Florida didn't even look that good so that says something. At one point it looked like a September 25th exhibition with half the rosters of both teams AHL guys, and training camp invitees.
I think the team needs to prepare and except Florida to play their best game, I'm not 100% convinced either team is going to play their "best" game. Wouldn't surprise me if a few guys in Florida, including Clemmer, are a bit shook after a lose like that. Same thing though I could see us coast to much, instead of building off of the momentum of a win like that (we are good for that)
Nothing would surprise me tomorrow night, tight game, cakewalk for one team, I can see anything happening. We just need Marty and the D to be sharper then last night and I think we will be ok. They are capable of it too, just stay out of the box, we can beat them 5-5.
Last night was a classic game against Clemmer. One of our vintage games against him. This is pretty much what has happened in every game against him ever minus game 4, and the game he was removed after the 1st period by Deboer for giving up 2 goals on 8 shots last year.
I myself seem to forget, and I fell into it. We see the high shot total in games we play him, and I'm under the impression he has our number, and plays better against us than he really does. I'm now seeing what's happening, and last night was a good example.
He doesn't really play better against us than usual. We MAKE him look better than he really is. The high shot count, and save percentage of his is really deceiving, and skews everything.
Even Roenick, and other analysts said today he wasn't tested last night. Made 3 really good saves, and most of the other stuff was just shot point blank to his pad, right bullseye into his waist, everything was stoppable. Even the Bernier goal he should have had.
I don't fault him on the Zajac goal, but a lot of people are giving him a hard time about it. I don't know that it was stoppable for him, BUT if he really did play better against us than he really does usually than he would have had that.
