Jack Johnson "I've turned the page"

http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/conte...-the-page.html

So has every Kings fan, Jack. I don't find it a coincidence that the Kings are in the second round for the first time in 11 years and Jack Johnson plays his hockey elsewhere.

Meh, it is what it is, good for Jack that he has moved on, but at the same time who really cares anymore?

That interview came across as bitter, but I can't blame him.

Well, we all knew where his loyalties lie. Michigan and Team USA. Shouldn't be surprising that he doesn't have an affinity for the Kings. He doesn't really have an affinity for Columbus either. I don't expect him to either. I don't see anything wrong with the interview. It is just the business of things, the nature of the beast. More often than not, the fan is more passionate about the team than the player. He grew up idolizing the Wolverines, and we grew up idolizing the Kings. Just how it is.

"Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson has been back in Los Angeles for a couple of weeks now, soaking up the sun in his Manhattan Beach home. He plans to keep the place -- well, yeah! -- and spend a month or so near the Pacific Ocean after every NHL season, remaining a temporary resident of California."
I guess he'll be spending quite a bit of time in his Manhattan Beach home after every NHL season playing for the Jackets.
No but seriously. Thanks Jack for giving Voynov a top 4 spot.
Okay, okay, being serious now. Thanks for giving the Kings a 2nd line that can score and a regular top 4 spot for Voynov.
Okay, I'll be serious. Good luck with the Jackets. And I mean that. Oh, and thanks for the other things I mentioned.

THIS ... wish other kings fans acted more adult towards this, but typical I suppose always gotta have some whipping boy and since STOLL's game winner got us to the 2nd round and Penner has been playing better and moved up to the 2nd line ... I suppose reverting back to making an EX-king the whipping boy is the easiest move.

Good Luck Jack, it would actually be nice to see the Blue Jackets have some success and him be a part of that turn around ... glad the trade worked out for both sides !

I just hope his mom is pissed she has to go to Columbus to watch her son play now.

JJ? I've always liked him and wish him the best.

Trades are part of the business of professional hockey.

I kind of disagree with his past statements where he indicates that the Kings didn't want him anymore. The truth is Dean dealt from a position of strength to fill a hole without creating a new one. If Columbus had insisted on Voynov instead of Johnson, then Johnson would still be here.

Dean did what he had to do to improve the team.

He needs to turn to page 24, IMO.

Index - Manual of Hockey

Penalty shot........................... 45
Players ................................... 1
Plus-Minus
what is............................3
how to calculate............. 4
history of...................... 18
how to make positive..... 24

Pond Hockey........................52
Power Plays ....................... 44

But really, all players need to be able to do this, it comes with the job. Anyone can be traded at the drop of a hat.

I see it simply as, I never thought Jack had the Kings tattoo, always thought he was our most expendable piece to make the team better. Which, trading him did. So did every trade over this last year, whether I think we got the better players or not. If I was in his position, I'd feel the same way he does. If I signed a 7 year deal and got sent to Columbus, I wouldn't be happy about it. He signed a 7 year deal to live in LA and didn't get to do that.

Given that I didn't feel I was particularly loyal to him (as in I thought it was best to trade him), I don't have anything against him not having an emotional connection to the Kings. No hard feelings, best of luck to him.

He should embrace being on a new team and being the top dog there. There is also a good opportunity for him to possibly become the next captain on his new team. You have to move on when you get traded. You don't want to see a coach feel any remorse or sympathy for beating his old club, nor should you expect that from a player competing against his old team.

DEFINITELY this. It seemed obvious for about the last year to year and a half that this was inevitable. JJ never felt like a real part of the core and was definitely our most tradeable asset. I'm not surprised in the least to hear his comments. He comes off a bit bitter, but I don't blame him at all and I think both sides will be happy to "turn the page".

Seems a little disingenuous. How could you not care less if your friends succeed or not?

I agree with this.
Not sure if he is disingenuous with saying he doesn't care ... OR if he was disingenuous when calling them friends :-/. If my friend is competing in something, I hope he's going to win.

If he had truely "moved on and turned the page" he would be able to say something like "Some guys on that team I played with, I'll always consider friends" ... and then followed that up with ... "and I am happy for them that they are doing well."

- I think, though, this article was mainly directed towards his NEW fans more so than his old fans. He wants to show them that he is committed to his new team and not looking back wishing he was on his old team when they are starting to be succesful. He's just saying all the right things. It doesn't matter to him how it comes off to Kings fans. It matters what it looks and sounds like to the Blue Jackets fans.

I am fan of Johnson, and I think in a couple of years this trade will actually benefit the blue jackets over the kings. Right now not so much.
No denying what a strong end to the year he has had, and I have seen previous posts about how much better his numbers were with Doughty out of the line up than in. I think he will thrive as the man on the blue line in Columbus.
Best of luck to him, too bad he isn't cheering on the kings I know I would be cheering on the bue jackets if it were reversed.
