He did look injured. That's probably the reason for the hold up with his decision.

If the Canadian people would rather win the World Championships over the Stanley Cup, I'm sure the players would be more willing to participate in the tournament too. You know the reality is far from it, so can we really blame the players for not wanting to risk injury for a tournament few care at home? Every Canadian players want to play at the Olympics because they know that everyone in Canada wants that Gold medal. Not so much for the World Championships. In Russia it's different. The Russian people do like the World Championships so the players do too. One doesn't go without the other.

Hopefully Ovi, Kovy, Semin, Orlov OR Kulikov join the ranks, then we should be good to go..

Would be nice...

It would be interesting to see how Bilyaletdinov would use Ovechkin. I don't think he'd stand for Ovechkin floating around in the neutral zone at all.

You're right. If Canadian players got a lot of aggravation from the media and the fans, they'd be there. The WC is big in Europe, but not in NA.

Hopefully Datsyuk plays with Semin so he can try to get him to come to the Wings in the off-season

Your starting to have quite a stacked team!

If the NHL players will join, I don't think these guys stand a chance tbh

I wish Americans were like the Russians and would accept an invite without thinking and look at playing for their country as a honor that they should be proud of. People like Kane and company should be a shame of their selves.

Anisin is the only player of 4 that has at least a remote chance. Not to mention Kalinin's injury

cannot seriously consider shirokov before Anisin, Perezhogin, Gorovikov, Zinoviev, Mozyakin, Kulemin, Saprykin, Kuznetsov ...I think Filatov comes before Shirokov does

Maybe if the IIHF had ever done anything to promote holding the tournament outside of Europe more Americans would feel that way.

Any chance to put on the US jersey should be enough for truly proud players.

I think it is up to each country to determine for themselves what they value and how they display pride in their nation. I understand you are a fan of the WC but understandably Amercians don't feel the same way about the tournament.

Here is todays roster for the EuroHockeyTour game.

Zaripov – Tereschenko – Zherdev
Shirokov – Shipachev – Ketov
Tikhonov – Burmistrov – E.Kuznetsov
N.Kulemin – Svitov – Tarasenko
Burdasov – Bodrov – I.Vishnevskiy

Korneev – Nikulin
Denisov – Medvedev
Ryasenskiy – Nikitin
Kalinin – Emelin

Varlamov, Barulin, Biryukov.

Since only Malkin (maybe Datsyuk and Kovi) join the team, IMHO the roster is very weak. With these lines and with Billyaletdinov as a head coach we played many awful games, including last lost from Latvia 0-1.

I don't believe there are not players better then Ketov, Tikhonov, Ryasensky and Medvedev. Tarasenko and Kuznetsov are very talented but rarely showed that skills in national team. Shirokov is good, but scores rarely. (Burdasov – Bodrov – I.Vishnevskiy) - no comments.

I'm in doubt we can make the playoff at the WC.

And that's ok, I have no problem with that, I was only naming that - lack of pride. Many European players do that also, so it's not only "problem" of the US.
