Ahh, well there goes that idea!

It'd be nice to see Kopitar cross the pond for the balance of the season to get his feet wet, so to speak.

A couple of clarifications/thoughts. The Rags pay Rullier, the Kings pay Smyth, The Wild pay Daigle and the Monarchs pay Bernie. That's how the loans work.

Daigle had yet to report to the AHL in Houston. His TSN profile shows that he's from Montreal. If he still "lives" there, Manchester is a lot closer to Montreal than Houston. Also, IF Daigle doesn't report to Manchester and is on there clear day roster, the Monarchs have an Emergency Condition by AHL rules and as such are free to add pretty much any player to their lineup in his place. Obviously I'd prefer that Daigle report to Manchester, but, if he doesn't, the Monarchs will have secured a spot to add whomever they choose.

Last season they put Lehoux on the Clear Day and there was really no chance he was going to play regardless of what was said in the media. AHL teams often include an injured or no chance in hell player on their Clear Day Roster to give them flexibility with their lineup. College and Junior players can simply be added when their seasons end so they would not need to be added under an emergency condition.

So basically, if Daigle doesn't report, the Monarchs have a spot that they can fill with a player on a PTO similar to what they did last season with Hymovitz into Lehoux's spot. Having said this, I hope Daigle reports to Manchester...

So does that mean that they could add O'Sullivan, Westrum or Law?

They can't add someone who appears on another AHL team's Clear Day Roster. That move would have needed to be completed by 3:00 ET yesterday. Other than that, they can pretty much add whom they choose...

I believe that Erik Westrum, Kirby Law and Patrick O'Sullivan will all be on Houston's Clear Day Roster.

Dear Alex,

I hear the weather in Manchester is really bad right now. Why would you even consider going? You are an NHL talent and should be treated accordingly.

Oh, and due to our affilation with Los Angeles, we just happen to know many people in and around the "Hollywood" area. We both know that acting is where your heart lies. We will do our best to get your work should you so decide to follow your dream.

Wishing you all the best,

The fans of the Manchester Monarchs.

P.S. Please talk to coach Hughes. We all know that his talents lie in Hollywood as well.

Did Boyle and Kopitar have to be on this list?

I can't get over my feeling that Daigle is the poster boy for all that was wrong with the NHL ownership before the lockout. Classic case of a giant contract to someone before they ever set foot on NHL ice. "Bust" is too nice a term.....

Is he even going to report?
I hope he does and comes here with a good attitude. His work ethic and attitude have been questioned allot in his career and now that he is being sent to the AHL you wonder what his mindset will be. will he work hard and try to prove some people wrong or will he piss and moan and pout?

Kevin Gilmore wrote this weeks "Inside Source" column in the Union Leader. Unfortunately this week's column isn't available on line. Basically, he says that Houston is already over their limit of Veterans (the AHL has a limit on how many veterans can dress for a game) and that's a reason why Daigle was optioned to Manchester. Gilmore says the he fully expects Daigle to be an impact player in the AHL...

He also suggests that both Boyle and Parse are two juniors that could "possibly" join the Monarchs when their seasons are over...
