Well, at the moment we dont have that much NHL'ers.

There's the old guys Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu, Olli Jokinen, Kimmo Timonen, Sami Salo, Toni Lydman, Miikka Kiprusoff and Nicklas Backstrom.

Outside of that our best players are Mikko Koivu, Valtteri Filppula, Tuomo Ruutu, Jussi Jokinen, Lauri Korpikoski, Sean Bergenheim, Ville Leino, Joni Pitkanen, Pekka Rinne and Tuukka Rask.

Other guys arent worth noticing if we are talking about the best finnish players.

But our future looks bright. Say, 5 years from now the situation will look much better.

The craziest thing about Finnish players in the NHL at the moment is that there are more Finnish starting goalies than there are defensemen who are regularly in the line up.

Ville Leino isn't worth mentioning at all.

If you go to nhl.com and click on stats then click all stats you can sort by country which will show every player from Finland to play a game this year.
I would have thought there were way more as I always (and still) consider Finland one of the hockey powers in the world but only 6 Finnish skaters made the playoffs this year.

yes he is. it's not his fault that he is so overpaid. he's still at least average player in the nhl, and thats big thing for finns nowadays.

I would say my top 3 right now would be Rinne, Selanne and M Koivu.

Pity Lehtinen doesn't play anymore

I'd say Rinne, Lehtonen (Always had a soft spot for him) and Selanne are the best 3 Finns.

On the Oilers we have Teemu Hartikainen and Lennart Petrell

Hartikainen might end up being a valuable player for the Oilers as an injection of size/grit on the wing. Petrell is a solid PKer and hits like a mofo

I think things aint even so bad, I was actually suprised how it looks when I look at all finns in the NHL.com.. We have less than I have used to have there (thought the goalies wont show on the list) But we have very good players in russia and just couple in Finland also, and then we right now have good players coming up who will for sure pop up in the NHL too later.. Theres not that much to worry about, but lets see how long does it take before we got next goal scoring or point scoring title for Finland..

When we talk about the best of the best, imo its good to do top seven.
My top 7 for Finland

1. P. Rinne (G)
2. V. Filppula (F)
3. M Koivu (F)
4. K. Lehtonen (G)
5. M Granlund (Starting to recover and show energy and do the good old "ownage" on the ice again btw) (F)
6. T. Selänne (Is below koivu and filppula because aint so good 2way, doesnt play shorthanded ect.) (F)
7. J. Pitkänen (D)

Even thought after Pitkänen there still is Timonen, Salo then litle gap and Lydman, it would be important time to Määttä and Vatanen to capitalize their potentional and some new prospects to raise for the D also.

I think they're pretty close. I'd still value Koivu more because of his leadership and he is great in his defensive game, too.

No he isnt. Mikko is by far the better player at the moment.

Teemu is overrated right now IMO. He knows how to score on the PP with elite players and guys who he has played with for years. There's also some of that speed left but i think if he played for any other team than the Ducks his production would drop drastically.

Just my opinion and im a Teemu fan.

I agree. Mikko is a underrated player and he surprises me every time I watch a Wild game.
