Timonen (possible sore foot/ankle from blocking a shot in Gm. 5)

I have looked high and low searching for any info on Kimmo. His last shift was late in the third when he took a hit behind the net from Cooke. He was real slow getting up and looked like a knee or leg injury.

This was his last shift of the game...
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...2/PL030145.HTM
15:14 (4:46) HIT PIT #24 COOKE HIT PHI #44 TIMONEN, Off.

He missed the crucial time at the end when we had our push (like we should have been playing for most of the game). I thought I saw him with like 2:00 minutes left but skated off holding his one leg up and went down the tunnel. I couldn't tell for sure if that was him as I couldn't see a number, but it looked like him...

Couldn't find a video to link to...

Thank you... There is eerie silence on this issue which worries me... Looks like he had his leg/knee extended out there which took the brunt of the hit..

Kimmo's been playing hurt for a long time. His play has dropped dramatically over the past two months.

Not playing the last 4:30 minutes after that hit during the most important time of the game is uncharacteristic if Kimmo though. And hearing Grossman was on the ice today and now listed as day-to-day and is not permitted to talk with the media, after which we were told he is out for the series has more concerned it's Kimmo related... Hope I'm just reading too much into this...

Here are his last two shifts. #29 was the shift he took the hit. Didn't take to the ice again until about 3 minutes later and then only was on the ice for 10 seconds on shift #30 - watching the video this is when I saw someone whom I thought was Kimmo skate off on one leg and right down the tunnel...

http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...2/TV030145.HTM
29 3 14:22 / 5:38 15:30 / 4:30 01:08
30 3 17:41 / 2:19 17:51 / 2:09 00:10

A day of rest and pain relief I am sure he will make it a go... I hope...

Keep in mind, we weren't TOLD that Grossmann was out for the series. Media/Carchidi SPECULATED that he was out for the series.

Glad to see Kimmo out there was worried. He only played 3 shifts in the third today, most likely just resting him being up...

Timonen's minutes were also way down in the Game 6 clincher due to what's believed to be a sore foot or ankle from blocking a shot in Game 5.
Quote:
Timonen did some healing up the last two days instead of practicing, but says he'll definitely be ready for Game 1, which likely will be Sunday afternoon but could occur Saturday night.

“Whatever it takes to get ready to play games, that's the main focus, not necessarily be out there practicing,” he said.

He's one of the top 2 D on this team.

Have some respect for one of the few guys that gives it 100% every game.

I suspect we already have some banged up guys. its not shocking. Timonen has been in the wars of the playoffs enough. He knows how to take care of his body

The video of that Cooke hit is pretty clear to me where Timonen may be hurt. I doubt the foot is his real concern.

the Pens have targeted Timonen every time they play us. Cooke's hit was clean, but from all the runs that they took at him, namely from a cheapshotter like Kunitz, it probably just caught up to him

hopefully he's feeling better by hte time round 2 starts

People take for granted how good and consistent he has been since he has arrived. He's a baller on our power play for SURE.

He's top 5 of best defenseman to play for this franchise.

And, Timonen would have to be dead not to be on the ice.

Exactly. He is a warrior and the definition of a Flyer. He is our version of a mini Nick Lindstrom and he deserves nothing but praise. Certainly not scrutiny.

I like to think of him as a Desjardins+... Rico at his best but with a harder edge and leadership, and a smaller size.

Warrior is an understatement as I see it.
