How much of an upgrade would Nash really be in place of Marleau? I mean if we end up giving up prospects/picks + Marleau for Nash then we are digging ourselves into a deeper hole for the future.

I can't see Marleau waiving his NMC for anybody really.

Doug Wilson kind of implied there might be a window we are unaware of. I think we have to at least entertain the fact that Marleau COULD be moved (I didn't say should).

IF we are trading Marleau though, I want a top-5 draft pick, that's it. Nothing else makes losing Marleau worth it.

Marleau + Clowe to Edmonton for their #1 overall! Yeah, that's it! They'll do that in a heartbeat!

OK, maybe not...

Obviously, I'm against trading Marleau, but if we do, I want a good package of youngsters, picks, and prospects. No Nash, no Luongo, no Iginla, etc. We need to get younger, deeper, faster, and more home-grown. A high pick in addition too ourown first would go a long way.

Certainly possible but I just have my doubts. I just don't see a deal out there that DW would do for Marleau that can be seen as making the team better. There's no Heatley for Havlat type of deal out there, that I can see, that would make the Sharks better. Marleau for Nash worsens the team by a significant margin and that's the only realistic one out there. lol

a few of us Hawks fans are interested in Douglas Murray. Would he be available, what are the Sharks' biggest needs? What would you want from the Hawks?

2nd Round pick is probably his price.

It's a combination of injuries and a down year. He's been relegated when in the lineup to the third pairing on more than one occasion. The Sharks aren't going to get a 1st round pick for him. If they can get any additional assets with the 2nd round pick for him, they will. Most people aren't going to go high with expectations about anyone that they might deal this off-season. lol

I think we would be happy to take a 2nd round pick off you guys for him.

He should fit better in your system though because you already have tons of speed. He slows down our already slow system.

I think he'll get more than that, most don't. He's a bit overvalued, and he's still a top-4 dman and one of the best hitters in the game today. Some GM's overvalue that specifically.

I expect he'd actually get a late 1st, especially with the draft quality. He's been fine, but keeps blocking shots and hurting himself this season (throat, foot, etc) and it effected his game.

We will likely trade him because he's slow, not because he's declining.

yikes, I think you guys scared me off the idea. Come to think of it the Hawks might need someone a little more mobile with Hammer on the 2nd pairing anyways. Leddy isn't really ready for that though.

I think thats always been his value. Maybe 2nd + decent prospect before this season but after what he did this season, I think we'll all be happy if DW can get a 2nd for him.

Thats not what he said. The only thing he said was that the contracts and their terms as cited by David Pollak (capgeek) are not accurate.

It could be anything. Maybe Handguns has conditions on when he has a NMC. Or maybe Marleau doesn't have a NMC on his final year, but rather has a limited NTC or something. We don't know, and Doug isn't saying anything.

Isn't that basically what I said? He kind of implied there might be some kind of windows in these deals...

Alot of people will disagree, but at this current moment, Nash for Marleau seems the most realistic scenario in DW's head IMO...

May be realistic but it doesn't mean that it ought to be done.

Sounded like you were talking about only Marleau's contract. DW did not directly say which contracts. Thats the problem. We don't have much to work on.
