I can't see Marleau waiving his NMC for anybody really.
Perhaps you could elaborate your statement? I dont see him having a problem waiving it. Im sure there are at least 3-4 teams he would happily play for.

If he had no problem waiving it, he'd be a lot more open to it when it is brought up by the media. I don't see three to four teams that he would happily play for. I see three maybes at best.
We use the Imperius Curse on all the GMs and Yakupov falls to us at 16th
We also need to use the Imperius on DW otherwise he would never pick a Russian.
1st of all, fire TMac, the Detroit model hasn't worked for us (or for Detroit), and that model tends to suck the grit right out of the team. Unless we get enough speed, I wouldn't touch RW. Mike Keenan could be a risky 1 year "kick in the ass" experiment, although his system is outdated. The huge risk with that is that the ramifications of hiring him could potentially break up the team completely. Dallas Eakins of the Marlies is another guy I would recommend inquiring about. Probably the best non-NHL coach right now.
Another problem: Speed. We need to draft as much as we can. As much as Marleau is wearing me out, he and Havlat are the only speedy players on the team and there is no substitution for speed. I'd only trade him if another team overpays or gives us a couple of speedy top 6 prospects. I'd look to trading Boyle + 55th overall for a mid 1st and a couple of high-ceiling prospects. I love Boyle, but let's face it, he's getting older, and we need to try retooling on the fly, a la the Flyers (See, Burke? THIS is when you do it!). Get a head start to the inevitable rebuild.
Yes. He or Colberg. Gaunce is bigger so I probably prefer him.
Collberg is the guy I want. He's out-producing Forsberg in international competition right now. Quick, great hands, game breaker. Only knock is his size, but that was the knock on Giroux, etc. as well.

I'm tired of Sharks taking the safe picks. I'd rather go for a game breaker who might be a potential bust.
Sorry but if we can get Ovechkin on our team for anyone other than Thornton, you do it no question every day of the week.
EDIT: Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's being said.
This. If we could get Ovi without loosing Thornton or Couture, of course you would do it! You would be crazy not to. He's a top 5 player in this league, even with his off year. Not to mention the $$$ he brings in and marketing value he has.
That being said its a pipe dream and there is no sense in talking about it. Might as well make a "Trade for Crosby" thread.
It'll depend on a few things. If Luongo actually gets a decent amount, Marleau should get more if he actually became available.
A team that trades for Marleau is a team that wants to compete for the Cup. That doesn't describe anyone with a top 5 pick. Those 5 want young players, not a guy that has 2 years left on a deal where he will be 35 after it's expired.
