You got to be kidding me! Last season San Jose owned us in the regular season last season and SJ have won more games vs the Coyotes/Jets franchise overall as noted in the Sharks GDT
I'm not sure what is funnier, my joke, or you thinking I was serious..
The game sucked boys, no excuses. The team as a whole didn't play great. Mike Smith is awful. Bryz would've stopped a couple of those goals and we all know it. First game of the season or not, we looked terrible. Honestly, I'll be surprised if we win 30 games this year.
Just like he stopped them the last four games he skated with this club?
A few positive things from last night. The young guns had some points. OEL looked much better along the boards than his rookie year. We scored 3 PP goals, so thats a step in the right direction from last year. Smith looked like he is a very capable goalie. I'm going to venture and guess that he really endeared himself to the team by taking that many shots and continuing to battle all night. Nice to see, since I'm used to Bryz sulking on these kind of games. Goaltending was not the issue tonight. Which was my biggest fear heading into the game. I fully expect this team to be much better 5 on 5 and to have much better positioning on their PK unit. All in all not the best way to start a season. Although I don't see a whole lot of reason to be panicking just yet.
We'll figure how decent we are over the course of the next 4 games, 2 games against weaker opponents (Dallas, Winnepeg) and then a hard game against Buffalo.
Nice to see Doan start off strong, generally he doesn't get his 2nd goal until game 20.

I wouldn't look at Dallas as weaker. Winnipeg may be as good as us... ouch!
Regarding Doan: maybe that's why he was played so much in pre-season?
