Barron has been a big riser, and our Safety situation is revolting.
There have been a couple of doubts emerge over Claiborne recently. One respected draft analyst had him as just the third best corner in the draft. It seems clear now that we never had him high on our board.
The way I see it considering we probably know more about Claiborne than any other front office and still risked losing him I wonder if we had him that high at all. In fact I wonder if it was decided we were going to get Barron when they released TJax.
Barron is a bruising run stopping safety ala John Lynch. I'd like to think we had the inside info from his position coach that losing Claiborne was worth the risk.

I'm surprised we didn't take Kuechly.
OK with the pick of Barron as that is a big team need (probably could have traded a bit further down to still get him) but would have thought Dom could get more than a 4th for the swap considering how high Jacksonville was on Blackmon. Don't know about Dom's drafting shrewdness.
We might actually make some open field tackles this year. And actually hit someone while doing so instead of pansy-arm tackling him. *cough*Tanard*cough*

As long as Barron chooses his teammates and career over pot it's an upgrade.
Also (sorry for the double post), sure it would have been nice to get an extra pick from Jacksonville, but its not like we had a host of other options with whom to trade with and play off one another, which the Jags would have known. I know Dallas made a move, but did we really want to pick as low as 14? With Dom just saying he would have taken Barron at 5, obviously no.
It kind of all happened really quickly, and with picks on the clock, you don't have a ton of time to play hardball and squeeze for some extra draft picks. He probably tried but Barron and a 4th still beats just Barron, keeping in mind we previously had no 4th.

Gave up our 2nd and swapped 4ths with Denver, so we don't lose a pick.
Love the way this kid runs through the holes (hopefully we'll create some this year). Actually like his running ability over Richardson and was hoping we'd take Claiborne and then Martin in the 2nd. Getting Barron was good and definitely a "need" player, but still think they could've gotten more for the 5th. Can't say I believe the "GM speak" though that he was the target all along.....
NEW YORK -- Detroit Tigers left fielder Delmon Young has been arrested on a hate-crime harassment charge after police say he attacked a group of men and yelled anti-Semitic epithets.
Yep. I'm a Tigers fan unfortunately. Got swept by the ****in Mariners, then Young gets arrested. Awesome. What is funny in the article I read is that no one wanted to say "Jew." "Panhandler wearing a yamulke" was the politically correct terminology I guess.
Traded places again, up into the 2nd round, 58th overall. Dexter Jackson gets himself on camera after all. Is it Lavonte David?
Edit: Yep.
We're not picking again until the top of the 5th round now (barring yet another trade of course) but we've walked away with three of the top-60, and three definite impact starters.
Probably as popular as the Rays.
Best record in baseball and successive crowds of 11k and 18k how pathetic is that?
About as pathetic as a billionaire whining about a new stadium when cities and counties are laying off firefighters, cops and teachers. The sooner the Rays move far away the better as long as we can get a FSL team back.

I hope Vinik buys them and the St Pete mayor lets him move them to Tampa
