Rangers are still a good team but I feel Boston would beat the crap out of you, I dont see that from the rangers

Caps were 2-2 this season against the Rangers I believe, including what looked to me like a totally dominant performance on the last day of the season in New York, and the Rangers still had an incentive to win because they could've won the Presidents' Trophy.

I dunno. That last game made it seem like the Caps had their number. I just can't get over the fact that the Rangers just generally look so good this year.

Maybe if Ovechkin's ice time can be reduced to just power plays, and if we can get a few more career minor leaguers on the ice, and definitely more Wideman and Schultz, Caps will do even better. As long as it works, I don't really care.

Seems like the logic was Boston>NYR therefore Caps>NYR.

There's no transitive property in hockey and we didn't exactly handle Boston.

I don't think they're a better team defensively than Boston. It's a series where 52/74/6 need to be effective in getting shots through and the big bodies need to go to work in the trenches. Do that and control the neutral zone for top six transition and I like their chances.

I feel better about this match-up than I did against Boston.

Which means we will lose in spectacular fashion.

Oh I know the transitive was there. I just think your response was golden. Just rubbing you.

Im a little more confident about this series because
A: The Caps may have better results with pounding down the Rangers D
B: Really like how our bottom 6 is playing

but.............we`re still Caps fans.......we know what reality thinks of being overconfident

I know this is going to sound a little bit crazy, but hear me out. I think that we should...forecheck. And defend the offensive blueline. We can break the Rangers D and Lundqvist. Ovechkin and Brouwer on McDonagh and Del Zotto? The Rangers will be at AHL callups by game 3.

I'm not saying play weak through the neutral zone and lazy on D. Just push a little bit. NYR can't handle it.

Ovie still managed to get 5 points against a pair of Chara and Seidenberg that played extremely physical and solid all series long.

The Rangers just don't have that to match Ovie. It'll be interesting.

OV will probably break through that D corps for a few.

Better zone exits and using the offense generated from the point would serve the Caps really well here. If they end up handling Noo Yok, it might be on the back of strong performances from Carlson, Green, and Wideman.

Yeah, I remember simliar reasoning last season. Everyone felt that the Rangers were some of the toughest competition in the playoffs, and that Tampa would be a cakewalk by comparison (especially since Lundqvist was seen as the biggest issue with the Rangers). I think we all know how that turned out.
