I agree.

Now that our season's over, anyone know what our draft position will be? It's gotta be in the 15-18 range, right?

I was told that if LA, OTT, and WSH all advance we will pick 15th

Is it just me that expects that 1st rounder to get traded in a move for Rick Nash?

I wouldn't mind getting Rick Nash at all but I would love to actually having more than one good prospect at a time someday.

I don't think PF is right on that part (though I could be wrong). I always thought the drafting order was only changed for the 4 teams in the Conference Finals.
For example, going by his logic, San Jose should have had an earlier draft pick in 2009 NHL Entry Draft since they were out in the 1st round. But their draft pick was 26th overall (behind the 4 teams in the Conference finals), since they won the President's Trophy.

The President's trophy winner cannot pick above 26th. That's all I really know about the draft system.

I guess that example doesn't work then. I'm too lazy to actually go back further and find out if the Sharks had a later draft pick because they made Round 2.

Man I hope we don't pick up Rick Nash. The last thing this team needs is to get more top-heavy.

I'm way too lazy as well.

All I know is that it'll be somewhere between 14 and 20. And that's a pretty good pick. So glad DW didn't trade out first.

I'm tired of trading away our picks for trying to win now. Our prospect pool is dismal since we've been trying to get over the hump since 07, ravaging it to the point that it's one of the bottom 3 in the league.

No Nash please

The one we are going to regret the most is (charlie coyle) in the seto trade , he is for real and going to be a star in the nhl

If we are going for a complete rebuild, what kind of packages (draft pick centered) do you think we can get for our top 10 players?

He will be a good player but a star is a bit of a stretch.

whats with this love for rick nash? Is his contract blinding us like Heatly's did? No doubt Nash would really at to the top line, but gods it'll sap the rest of the team.

You're right. It goes the result of the final four for the Cup as the last four obviously. The remaining division winners which would by default include any trophy winners not making it to the conference finals. Then it's everyone else in the playoffs.

If the Kings, Caps, and Sens advance to the conference finals, the Sharks would pick 15th. You move them up from there if not but the worst for the Sharks is the 18th pick.

Personally, I think the Sharks should trade back and acquire more picks rather than using picks to move up. If they can move up by going one draft pick for one draft pick like moving Clowe and their pick for a top ten pick then sure but they need to be getting more picks, not using more of them for less assets.

Fair enough... Stevie at least gave the Sharks a few good years.
