Small comparison. Watching the Rangers trying to clear the zone sometimes in the 3rd period there was like watching a football team go for a short screen pass on 3rd and 20. The plays were too short. It happened a lot on the series. The high forward along the boards needs to be a little higher up and that would fix that problem.

First of all, hats off to the Sens. Hell of a fight, hell of a series.

Second of all, take a minute to just be damn proud of this team. This took a ton of resiliency. Savor it, enjoy, then on to the next.

On to the game:

Is there any doubt who the series MVP is? Bravo Mr. Lundqvist. I will admit I was probably too harsh on him after the Turris goal, he was damn close to flawless tonight.

Loved seeing Girardi and Staal chipping in offensively. Girardi stepped the physicality up as well. Overall our D played a great game, really helped out Hank tonight. I feel like I say this every other week but the sky is the limit with McDonagh.

Kreider-Stepan-Cally is a joy to watch. Callahan looks reinvigorated. Stepan as well, and the assist on Staal's goal was a thing of beauty. I posted in the Kreider thread already but the rate at which this kid improved is something I never would have seen coming. He was making plays all over the ice in game 7...his 5th NHL game! What a feat.

Lastly, nothing new but Hagelin adds SUCH an important dynamic to our lineup. His suspension changed the entire way Richards/Gabby play and their ability to maintain offensive zone time.

Last note - GREAT effort by Dubi on Girardi's goal. He made that play.

Super game:

Girardi, McD and Staal were monsters tonight. If they can play like this every game, we can go a long way. I know it is only a bit over a year, but McD has Hall of Fame talent and smarts. If he keeps improving like this every year, he will win the Norris trophy soon.

Unfortunately, the power play still looks awful. Those two power plays in Game 7 were ultra-mega pathetic. If they expect to beat Washington, and I think they will, they need to have more offense.

And, please, stop sitting back so much every time you have a lead and chipping the puck to the blue line.

Would like to have 2 days off, not one, before the next round, but what can you do.

Do you require psychiatric medication? Lundqvist plays if he can standup.

And probably if he can't... we'll just let him sit in the crease and he can wave at anything high.

My victory bowl has made all this discussion of Kershaw eating pubes extra hilarious.

Does anyone else feel like the Caps are the Ranger's proverbial dragon?

Chicago beat Vancouver two years straight before the Canucks were finally able to beat them in the post season.

Boston had the Flyers with the infamous 3-0 comeback. They swept them the following year.

And the Rangers have the Capitals. 7 game heart breaker in 2009, and a close 5 game series last year.

If you want to get near the princess you've got to kill that ****er.

Stepan's a funny player. Sometimes he's Claude Giroux and sometimes he's John Mitchell. Never know what you're gonna get.

A young player is inconsistent? Really?

(this is meant to be read as playful sarcasm, not mean-sprited sarcasm)

Yeah he is very young so hopefully that's something he can figure out and be the good Stepan more often. On his game I fully believe he's a 60 point a year guy at least. He just needs to be more consistent and we need to be patient with him.

Yeah I don't wanna be insulting to Marty, I like him, but you go with your number 1 in this situation every time.

From this point on I will not be disappointed with the outcome of this season.

Great effort, glad to see us pot a few in the net.

you'd have to say the best team left in the playoffs are the Rangers. 2nd is probably Nashville, 3rd are the Flyers, 4th probably goes to St. Louis.

just my opinion.

So happy tonight!

On the game:

Still need to be better clearing the puck out of our zone. We threw the puck right to their defensemen plenty of times and we're lucky that didn't bite us in the ass.

That one powerplay looked like absolute CRIPE! What the helllll was Stralman looking at?! Let's not repeat that again.. please.

Him and Neil's handshakes were incredible. Both incredibly considerate and friendly. Awesome display of sportsmanship.

The three headed monster on D. Girardi,Staal and McDonagh. The Habs had a three headed monster in the 1970s with Larry Robinson,Serge Savard and Guy Lapointe.
