I'm taking NJ very seriously because I've become increasingly pessimistic over the years. You guys can enjoy your enthusiasm, I'll be over here fretting about Kovy, Parise, and Elias the Flyer-Killer.

Probably both. I expect the game to be similar to Game 1 against the Pens. Sucky in the first, but fresher in the last 40.
Only the Devils lack the firepower to go up 3-0 in 20 minutes.

On that note, the fact that the Devils blew multiple leads of 2 or 3 goals in the series bodes well for Philly.

Been hawking all the games the past two nights anxiously waiting to see who the Flyers will play lol. I think this will be a tougher series than a lot of people think it will be. NJ's PK has been abysmal since the playoffs but it was pretty epic in the regular season.

Don't want to come across like this is an absolute stone cold lock, since this is the NHL as nothing is a stone cold lock, but this is the first time in a long, long time that I really feel like the Flyers can sweep a series.

Okay, but nothing to write home about. They used to be a lot worse, though.
Couturier is at 57%, but he doesn't play on the PP.

EDIT:
Just saw Elias' FO stats. Yikes.

I actually feel that way as well. So of course it is going to go 7.

overconfidence is for the fans. and thats ok. I dont think we have to worry about that with the leadership group and the coaching staff we have here.
hopefully they can shake off the rust quickly in game 1. I am confident they will be ready to go.

kovy's been driving himself up a wall just fine. he's got an injury and has absolutely no acceleration, which kind of kills 90% of his game.

i'm fully expecting you to brutalize us, but hopefully it ends up a good series.

He is. Huge loss. Hopefully he can heal up in 3 days, but it doesnt look good because he's been playing on this since about Game 2.

The thought is, Clarkson might also be playing hurt, and hopefully Sal is okay (took a savage slash at the end of the 3rd tonight).

I'm guessing you dont realize the Devils broke the all-time NHL record for penalty killing this season?

I'll take an 82 game NHL record rather than a short sample size of a mere 7 games in which the PK played poor.

expect coots to take a lot of defensive draws. hes at like 58%. giroux is over 50% and schenn is a little under. these are against malkin and crosby so i think those numbers are very solid.

To be fair, Florida had the 7th ranked PP this season. 1.2% behind the Pens and Flyers.

Maybe, but it's not like the Penguins' PK sucked during the regular season. And unlike most of the goals against on EV and the PP, those goals weren't really Fleury's fault but the Pens' PK getting outmatched.

And since we have Devils fans visiting this thread: Whats going on with Larsson? Is he injured?

I recall an earlier post in some thread that Kovalchuk was on the ice for net more shorthanded goals scored for the Devils than PP goals allowed during the season. That is pretty amazing.

The Devils didnt break the record for all-time shorthanded goals scored, but they finished like top-5 in history. I want to say they were 5th with 15 shorthanded goals, and I think some of the Oilers teams in the 80s were the all time leaders with something insane like 22 SHG.

Parise, Henrique, and Kovalchuk are all crazy dangerous shorthanded pressuring the point. But again, Kovalchuk is playing injured, so scratch that.

Probably coming to your house for game 1 I shouldn't expect too much trouble right ? I'm pretty respectful in other teams houses.
