Guess I was wrong: Bill invited Perezhogin and Popov from Avangard, Kokarev from Dynamo. Not the most obvious choices, and I guess they'll go to the Worlds not playing in the EHT.

Reason: wrong quote
I predict a major failure for team Russia this year. The team still looks kinda weak, players are tired, exhausted even after long long seasons, new coach, lack of motivation etc.
And that's ok, I have no problem with that, I was only naming that - lack of pride. Many European players do that also, so it's not only "problem" of the US.
Sorry, I just get a bit nervous about overt nationalism in Europe. However I should say that the separation of Czech and Slovakia was a wonderful example of two neighbours acting responsibly and respectfully. If other differences can be solved so well in Europe then I should have nothing to worry about.
Since only Malkin (maybe Datsyuk and Kovi) join the team, IMHO the roster is very weak. With these lines and with Billyaletdinov as a head coach we played many awful games, including last lost from Latvia 0-1.
I don't believe there are not players better then Ketov, Tikhonov, Ryasensky and Medvedev. Tarasenko and Kuznetsov are very talented but rarely showed that skills in national team. Shirokov is good, but scores rarely. (Burdasov – Bodrov – I.Vishnevskiy) - no comments.
I'm in doubt we can make the playoff at the WC.
Hockey is about Balance. The Eurotour teams were mostly experimental. They were also not very sharp offensively, however for their level they have been better Defensively than the previous WC all star teams.
NOW, you take the hardworkers of the Eurotour teams, add the sharpness of star NHLers - Malkin, Datsyuk, Kovy and you have a balanced team. You have the sharp offensive weapons with balanced defensive hardworkers.
That is something Bykov team did not have. You wonder how with all the stars last year the team couldn't buy goals. They lacked balance, they lacked hardworkers in front of the net, and most importantly they lacked discipline and organization in Defense. You can be sure that Bilyaletdinov will bring that.
The real Russian NT will only come together for the first time in WC, until then it's impossible to predict how it will do, since we've never seen the cream of that crop play together. But like I said, defensively, its VERY reasonable to expect a much more solid game than last year. And solid defensive game is often back bone for puck possession and good offense.
is Morozov injured? I'm sure I saw him in the playoffs this year...
and what exactly has Shirokov done to earn a spot on the national team?
Shirokov is a dangerous forward and stood out for most of the season with CSKA. He was on the top line for most of eurotour and has done at least better than everyone else on the team(except Radulov, Zherdev). But most importantly Bilyaletdinov seems to trust and hope in him, that's why I think he has a good chance.
Kovy, it's still possible for him to come from the first round, that's why I put him in.
... you mean 1-2-2, that's what Belyaletdinov plays.
That's not how they played at the Karjala tournament and the outdoor game. It was a very passive 1-4, sometimes even 0-5. Note, that was only against Finland. Seems Bilyaledtinov has found a strategy to combat Finland's puck possession style.

I'm bloody hate it.Just done watching a game vs FIN I think I'm gonna play my Nhl12 on PS3 instead of watching saturday's game vs Sweden.Thats not Team Russia I hate this passive awfully boring style of play by Bilyaletdinov.Thats not our style. And as a Jets fan I feel sad for Burmi because he forced to play this **** hockey.Give me fuel ffs, it feels like watching Div1B game.

Russia need to cut down on those long passes if they want to cut down on turnovers.
*Has there been official word on Markov? I watched him finish the season with the habs and he was starting to regain his form. I have a gut feeling he will play.

Because the wide open "safe is dead" style of the Thrashers worked so much better right..

Didn't they win every game against us in EHT? Scary, although roster and situation is different at Worlds.
