The best thing about round 1 was/is

The best thing about the first round is that next season the New York Rangers are GOING TO BE BETTER !

just writing that feels so fracking good

the best thing about the first round was watching the Tortorella system work in the 2nd season for NY

mark it down fellas, NY is IMPROVING next season

We have another round to play, and hopefully a couple more. Lets not talk about next year.

The part where we won was the best.

I can say this now that we won the series....getting tested like that is a good thing. Down 3-2, having to win a elimination game on the road and a do or die Game 7....thats a gut check right there. This is a young team that doesnt have a ton of playoff experience, and as a group pretty much zero playoff success.

It was a big test they faced...having to come from behind to win and get over the hump of winning a series. This team passed with flying colors. It will only get harder from here, but now at least the team has something to fall back (hey we can comeback! we did it against Ottawa etc) on if they are faced with a perilous situation in the next series or beyond.

The best part was when Kreider scored the game winning goal in game 6!

I actually thought the best part was when Kreider fanned on the shot into an empty net in his first NHL game.

in fact.. he had 2 shots at empty nets that he just completely missed before his goal... this kid could've had three playoff goals already!

The best part was finding out the Kreider is going to be making a big impact on this team for years to come. He's a damn good player.

That we get to see at least 4 more games of Rangers hockey this season! Don't remind me how brutal the off-season is when the only professional sport you watch/follow is hockey!

Adversity. The Rangers were down 3-2 with game 6 on the road. They found a way to win the series. Every team needs to deal with adversity if they are going to winning anything. The teams are so close in this league. You are not going to see many 4 or 5 game series anymore. As Torts said things happen for a reason. The hockey gods were testing the Rangers. Usually the Rangers would have lost game 6 and they are on the beach today.

This. This is the best thing to come out of that series. The team is maturing and improving, and some things you can only learn by doing.

best thing is I'm closer to seeing a game in person. I'm at school in England and come home in a few weeks.

Since Ottawa was so tough to beat I think the team will be ready to kick some Capital arse. It should help the team in round 2.

Considering on how the Rangers win games, the 7 game series is a valuable character building experience for this style of team. Lets face it, they are never going to run and gun and blow teams out. Tight hard fought games in the trenches and game 7s are this teams future imo...

get use to it.

Ok I'm gonna say one I think takes the cake (other than just the fact we won, of course) and that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Getting tested, sure. But there's one individual test that mattered far more and that was one of Lundqvist being able to show that he CAN be a big game playoff goalie. He finally climbed over that mountain and you have no idea how much that matters. If he can do what he did in Game 7 last night, then he has what it takes to be a Cup winning goalie.

Besides winning, the best part was seeing Kreider improve over 5 games in a pressure-cooker of a series.

Leaf fan here to offer congratulations. Not only did your Rangers win, but they did so with champion-like class. I think a tough series VS Ottawa leaves your group battle-hardened, and even sharper for the next round.

Well done. Rangers are my team of choice in the east. This year...

being the only team to win game 7 on home ice.

theres a reason you work had all year to secure home ice, and this is it. Getting to dictate who is in and out for faceoffs...playing in front of your crowd, getting amped up, etc. it's all huge. if the rangers wanna go deep into the playoffs they HAVE to win at home. we already know they are one of hte best road teams in the NHL, but you cant offset that buy being garbage at home. We still only split the series at home, but when it was crunch time, we won.

The final 5 seconds of game 7, when I realized that we don't have to play Ottawa anymore.

But Kreider stepping up in the 5 games he's played so far makes me super excited to see him in Ranger blue.

Here are a bunch of good things not in any discernible order:

1.)The resilience of the team.

2.) The emergence of Kreider

3.) The re- emergence of Staal

4.) Playoff Hank being better than regular season Hank

5.) Boyle before the Neil hit.

6.) The Callahan-Kreider-Stepan line.

7.) McDonagh - We knew it but he was still excellent.
