I hope you are right and someone shows enough faith in him to offer us a decent asset for him.........just not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Why the **** does it say that I am quoting/responding to myself?????? Second time today....
The Habs have done a good job at driving down Weber's value, so at this point I'd say you're probably right that it's not overly likely to see any team make a good offer for him, but I'm hoping the new GM will understand how to manage assets like Weber. If he can't be moved for something useful during the draft, hold on to him until you can manage to increase his value enough to move him for a fair return.

I just hope we can find the right GM sooner rather than later because there is a lot of analysis to be done prior to the draft. Personally, I'd love to see the new GM figure out a way to swap picks with Edmonton and take Yakupov.

Realistically, I think we should trade both our second round picks for a late 20th overall pick and select Tomas Hertl. I don't think he be there at #33. The guy is big, uses his body and has soft hands. Style comparable to Dallas Star's Jamie Benn.

We are in agreement on that one

So the #3 projected pick could end up at #10, #15 at #30, etc. Many dmen are all of the top 4 projected type, even into the 2nd rd. The forwards mostly fall into the 2nd/3rd line types.

It's a very open draft, so it all falls onto team scouts and who they like best.

We can all argue who is better
Koekkoek or Pouliot
Wilson/Frk

But you are right, it all comes down to what a PRO scout thinks the upside of a player really is.

All that said though, only my picks will pan out[/QUOTE]

I hope Timmins has you on speed dial
He doesn't seem to want to take my calls

3 Q league prospects, 2 from Quebec themselves. Media is happy, all players fit in with the grittier style with talent we need to add

EDIT
I would take a 5th/6th rd shot at a project player like Michael McKee or Ron Knot
I really like your list. Especially the first 3 picks. I've been high on Sutter for a while now... Such a smart player on top of his aggressive, no non-sense style of play.

Sutter does seem like a possible good pick, 200 pound center and will be playing at the Memorial Cup next year with the Blades. And already friends with Dietz

Just how much better do we expect Yakupov to be better than Galchenyuk/Forsberg/Grigorenko?

Personnally I am happy with 3rd pick and keeping our assets.

If they haven't spoken to him since then I wouldn't be so excited.

They should definitely be meeting with him day by day. Examining his bowel movements.

No sense in tipping your hand quite yet. A meeting definitely means interest, especially prior to the combine and actual interviews there.

Yakupov could be the '12 Patrick Kane and the rest the other quality forward that have fallen...
If you watch the difference in between Kane and Couture, obviously, Kane is the better player but not by much...

Could be ressembling 09 too...
With Nail being a bit less of a quality prospect than JT

I was. No doubt in my mind he will be a 70 point center. But I am all about building a winner, and I scouted him closely games in 4,5,7 in the Mooseheads series. The intensity, the desire and the physical implication wasn't there.

I'd still draft him, but he's slipped down my list.

Nice to see you admit it..

That's what i've been saying for months

I'd still draft the winger over the center 9 times out of 10.

We have 4 top 2 centers in the line-up (Or will have because of Eller and Leblanc being actually in developpement.

I don't blame him. I was high on Grigorenko too but less so now. I'm now uncertain between him or Forsberg. It's betwen him, Forsberg, and the best defenceman in the draft for me.

What he's saying is that those players were not ranked in the first round during their draft year. They were more flying under...

That's the kind of players we have to go for. They are first round talent who were not as developed as others in their draft year.

With that in mind, we need to stay away from a player like Shremp who fell in his draft year.

I report what I see, hear and I like to have eyes for myself. At the time I was a big advocate of his size, talent and vision. I still am but those other intangibles aren't there and those are the hardest to acquire.

The Center is more important than the winger. It's that way for most teams, a big talented center is usually the highest need in the league, a puck moving D and a goaltender are the other big needs.

We have DD who is a good 2nd line center, Plekanec is a two-way 2nd line center, Eller is a tweener 2nd-3rd line shutdown center with 40-60 point potential. Leblanc will be and is a winger at the NHL level.

thanks, I based my list off of what I've seen and heard. I also wanted plyers with size, grit and solid two-way play. I can't speak to their personality or mental makeup but they seem to me to be players that would succeed in MTL all while adding that missing piece to compete against teams like NYR, Boston and Philly.
