He's too young and inexperienced.

I wouldn't want a 19 yr old from the CHL playing against grown men.

Yes, he was. I think he was actually a few months younger than Jurčo is right now when he played in 2010. And Tatar was just a few months older than Panik, though he was playing against men for the 2nd year of his career. But anyway Saint John´s is in the play-offs and they´re hosting the Memorial Cup this year, so...And both were some of our better players back then.

Harv, would you rather have experienced players who play nothing? Because we have an abundance of them. What has "experience" brought us at the WC over the past few years. Nothing but tears...and those were not tears of joy...

landskronala, he´s in the AHL POs and the Bolts wouldn´t release him. The chance that Norfolk doesn´t get through to round 2 is pretty slim, but even if they don´t I doubt such an "inexperienced" player would be brought in without having played any pre-WC game in the Slovak NT. (Though even playing andplaying well in those did not help him)

Any word on Chara yet? Good to see Kopecky coming. He'll add some much needed depth to the roster.

Also, are Jurcina and Handzus available? I heard Jurcina got hurt, but is it bad enough to keep him out for the whole tournament.

Jurčina´s out for the tourney.

Both Handzuš and Chára are questionable right now. Handzuš even unlikely I would say.

While I'd like him there, I don't think he's physically mature yet.

Go look at Canadas D, those are some large men. I think he'll get shutdown and overpowered easily.

There a big difference between 19 in the NHL and 19 in the QMJHL.

Do you say same for top prospects who play junior leagues before going straight to much more physical NHL at age of 18? Jurco has a good size advantage, Granlund played as 19 year old for Finland and he was our smallest guy.

Offtopic: Do you consider Jurcina's career in NHL over? He had the worst season, he is UFA and injured.

Chára and Kopecký supposedly replacing Hruška and Kytnár.

What was the point of calling Hruška anyway? Since we knew that at least Graňák would come?

But anyway, Kytnár sent home and Cibák with a WC spot (I see no chance of Handzuš coming tbh). Gimme a break. Kytnár´s no star, but he has shown much more than Cibák has so far.

he was worst in NHL on +/-, but still that can be enough to have him on WC. Slovakia has certain defensemen so mediocre, he would make the team stronger

Hey guys just a wings fan popping in with a quick question, do you guys know how much ice time Tatar is going to get (ie: is he on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line) and is he going to get any PP time? I saw he picked up 2 assists in his first game, did he play well?

He's my favourite prospect n the wings system & after a bit of a down year by his standards I'm hoping for a big tourney.

I believe he will be one of the best if not the best offensive player in the roster (along with Mikus). Definetely 1st line PP and probably 1st or 2nd ES line.

Tatar is a huge piece of the changing-of-the-guard that is currently happening with the Slovak National Team. With their development system in recovery mode and their NHL stars nearing 30 and above, he will be relied upon heavily to score for this team.

Slovakia is really counting on Tatar, Panik, Jurco and Tvrdon to develop into top 6 forwards going forward. They are really the only hope Slovakia has going forward offensively. I think when these guys play for the NT they'll be given more important roles than they're use to.

Final roster

Ján Laco 1981
Peter Hamerlík 1982
Július Hudáček 1988

Zdeno Chára 1977
Andrej Sekera 1986
Ivan Baranka 1985
Tomáš Starosta 1981
Dominik Graňák 1983
Michal Sersen 1985
Kristián Kudroč 1981
René Vydarený 1981

Branko Radivojevič 1980
Mário Bližňák 1987
Marcel Hossa 1981
Miroslav Šatan 1974
Tomáš Surový 1981
Milan Bartovič 1981
Tomáš Tatar 1990
Juraj Mikúš 1987
Michel Miklík 1982
Tomáš Kopecký 1982
Marcel Haščák 1987
Rastislav Špirko 1984
Marek Hovorka 1984
Libor Hudáček 1990

I do not know whether this team will make it to the QF, maybe they will be able to do this miracle. But where exactly is this rebuilding of the team? There are 6 players 25 and under on here. One of them will be the 3rd goalie (Hudáček) and wasn´t even given an equal chance to his two collegues in the pre-WC games, just got to play on game. Nobody on the D. There is 5 fowards, but there are 14 forwards, so it´s likely that one of them will be the 14th F (Haščák most likely). Bližňák, Mikú and Tatar are the only ones I´m sure will get any significant ice-time and this will be Mikúš´s 3rd and Tatar´s 2nd WC, so the credit of building them into the team can hardly go solely to the current NT leadership. I´m not entirely convinced yet that Vujtek will trust L. Hudáček to get any serious ice-time at the WC.

Also, I´m sorry but the only explanation for Hossa being on this team is the fact that Vladimir Vujtek´s son is his agent.

There´s nothing on the official website nor facebook page of SZĽH. However what was posted here is what was announced by Vladimir Vujtek during a press conference a few minutes ago.
