Actually all it really showed is that the seeding meant nothing this year. Everyone, players and the media, have been saying that this year the parity in the league has really shown. Has little to do with "having trouble" with a team.

Much like people want to believe the Rangers are the weakest 1st place team in forever, the Sens were still a pretty good 8th place team.

It's all about matchups. Pitt and OTT were probably the worst matchups for us coming into the PO'S this year. And you should know that 9 out of the last 11 Cup winners got bounced in the following first round. So really, the B's first round exit isn't all that uncommon at all.

Maybe you missed the part where it said the Sens were a bad match-up for the Rangers? Stop being obtuse.

I guess Vancouver should have just smoked those ****** Kings too huh?

Your logic is beyond dumb.

On one hand you say the Rangers are a lot like the Bruins, and the Caps are better than the Sens. Okay, so if the Caps are better than the Sens, and the Sens gave the Rangers trouble, and the Rangers are a lot like the Bruins, then by your logic, should the Caps not have smoked the Bruins in less games than the Rangers struggled to beat the Sens who are worse than the Caps?

Yeah, thought not.

True. And I'm not saying Ottawa is better, NYR are def the better team. My point is Caps almost closed it out in 6, Rangers had to force game 7. It seemed like the Caps just played a bit better against the Bruins (who are better than the Sens) than the Rangers did against the Sens.

You do understand the definition of the world 'almost', yes?

Both series went 7 games, it doesn't matter what they "almost" did.

Shut up.

You can hide the ******** in a page full of stats and crap but in the end you come in here and tell us why we are going to lose? nope, not trolling at all. Just because you were banned from the main boards doesn't mean you should come here and tell us that Lundqvist plays deep in his net when this has been his best season because he has been challenging shooters and playing at the top of his crease more than he had in the past.

so yeah, nice job on the research. All you had to do was watch last nights game and it was mentioned. I hate people who think that because they appear to talk logically about it they think they aren't trolling.

stupid argument.

it doesn't matter how a team does it, all that matters is whether they win or lose.

All you have to say is, "The Rangers do not match-up well with the Caps." Ninety-percent of the posters here will agree.

You don't need to go into how the Rangers and Bruins are alike and how the Caps almost took them in 6, and so on and so forth.

How does how many games it takes to close a series mean anything? You beat us in five games last year and then got swept in the next round.

Yeah and so because they beat Boston in 7 this year, the Rangers are going to take them in 2 games then I guess.

Nice, short series.

Not to mention, game five Thomas was an absolute wreck. If Thomas plays well in that game Bruins could have won in six.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda...makes ZERO difference.

if a hockey god descended from the sky and told me it's a sure fact that the rangers are getting eliminated at some point... Id rather get eliminated to the caps, then get eliminated to the flyers in the conference championships.

My post was 100% fine in reply to a conversation I was having with another poster. I said it's most non-caps fans that jumped on the bandwagon that are saying Holtby>Lundy but you pick out 3 words and twist it to say I'm trolling.
All I said is the Caps have more snipers and Hank plays deep in his net (hence Semin having so much success against him compared to others)... No need to be a *********

I didn't even say that. I just explained why the Caps fans feel they can win, which many Rangers fans on the main board felt was ridiculous for some reason. Whatever bro...

"Caps almost closed it out in 6..." except, they didn't. The Bruins got the better of them.

Using your logic, the Bruins almost beat the Caps -- considering game 7 went to OT and 1 goal decided the series. See how stupid it sounds when it makes your team look bad? Let's play some more with your logic

"Rangers fought through adversity and were such a good team that they could come back from 3-2 to win." See how homerish that sounds?

Both teams needed 7 games to defeat their opponents. Both opponents had their strengths and weaknesses. I can sit up here and be a homer and a Caps hater and talk about how I thought the Bruins gave a half-assed effort this postseason and were not their true form like last year, but I won't...because it makes me sound stupid. The Caps were the better team because they won the series. Case closed.

I concur, a dump in the ECF is painful but it means that this season(imo) was a serious success. It also shows massive improvement and playoff experience.

Getting to the ECF would be much more beneficial for us next year in analyzing our needs.
