Colbert can't say no to his linebackers.

Sean Spence is a 43 OLB through and through. Very strange.

Dammit. They had a chance to be a perfect 3-for-3 on linemen who grade out way higher than their draft slot. Damn.

That was unexpected.

I wonder if the Steelers are gambling on the fact that the other 3-4 teams seem to not need a NT.

I haven't seen any Miami games in years...anyone with more to say about Spence?

His size seems off for a 3-4 linebacker.

I just want to know why the **** Colbert refuses to draft a NT.

Wonder if they will keep all 4 7th rounders or try to use them to move in 4th or 5th?

As for Spence, everything I heard about him suggested a lack of size and athleticism and said he projected best a weakside 4-3 OLB. Seems to be a smart player. Can't see him as an OLB in 3-4 at all, so he'll likely slot inside. Not big fan of pick.

First Cane Steelers have taken in a while I think?

The combine is a shell game for tax purposes. Only the bad teams actually use the information they get there. (This according to Peter Gent)

You can't trade comp picks.

I'd imagine Spence is more of an ILB in our defense.

Spence had a shoulder injury, that's why his bench went so poorly at the combine.

Not sure how well a safety sized linebacker will fare in a 3-4 defense...

Maybe because of his size maybe a safety conversion?

Scouting reports seem to rave about Spence's intelligence. You hear things like coach on the field and excellent at diagnosing plays even against play action.

Best fit is on the weak side in a 43. He's a great athlete but he's very small, doesn't have the frame to add much weight and is very weak. He's incredibly instinctive, a hard worker, lots to like about him as a prospect, but not in our system.

Yeah, I just read some scouting reports on him. It sounds like they may try him at ILB.

Steelers LB coach Keith Butler said Spence is a mack LB and will play special teams and provide depth behind Lawrence Timmons.
