I know Jim Rutherford was on record saying he doesn't take defensemen in the first round, then the Hurricanes selected Ryan Murphy last year.

As far as the Icelanders go they did trade up in 2009 to select DeHaan in the first round

Well because they're very weak. They need as much help as they can get.

And Murray is considered to be top 4 ready.

Fowler and Larsson did it in their draft years. I don't see why Murray can't.

He will probably be on their 2nd pairing, not making a huge impact next year. I don't know that playing that role is critical enough to pass on Forsberg, when you have Nash on the outs...maybe it's because I've heard Forsberg compared to Nash, and I think they are lookin to replace him with a cheaper alternative that makes me think Forsberg is going to Clb...plus my crush on Forsberg is getting out of hand actually.

Yeah but Forsberg could take as many as 4 years to be ready for the NHL. At least 2. Could be a while before he's ready to make any kind of impact. That's why I think they'd pass.

I think 4 years is kind of stretching it...he's just younger than most prospects in this draft, but he isn't what you would call raw or weak. He looked like a man amongst boys at the U18. Probably 2 years is a more realistic projection.

Bad for CGY

Don't need a goalie.

I really think that T.T. goes to Carolina just seems like a good fit.

There is literally no way Calgary takes a goalie as we have Irving, Ramo, Ortio who all project to be an nhl goaltender.

If we assume the other 13 happen Calgary most likely takes Pouliot he is solid defenseman and has connections to Sven.
