Unless these are just lines you'd like to see, I really can't see Tavares on anything lower than the second line. It makes sense to have Getzlaf-Perry and RNH-Eberle together, but Tavares had a better season than anyone on the first line. Unless Getzlaf plays like he's supposed to, Tavares is the best center we have on the team.

According to Lowe, he's approached Hockey Canada about wanting to go.

I kinda feel bad for JT. In my opinion, he's Canada's best forward heading into the tourney and has always been a top producer on the international stage.

Tavares is the best center on the roster (Benn is 2nd but he'll probably play on the wing), I find it mind boggling that some think he'll play behind Getzlaf and Hopkins. O'Reilly will probably be the center of Canada's shutdown line that will be on the ice for toughest assignments. I expect RNH's line to play against worst quality of opposition and I expect him to see the most PP time of all Canada's forwards.

I would also play Vlasic with Subban.

First off, Tavares isnt just the best center on the team, he is THE best player we have.

That being said, it wouldnt be a surprise at all if Getzlaf-Perry get more minutes than he does for 3 reasons: 1. They are veterans 2. Olympic Experience 3. Chemistry

Thirdly, this whole concept of "lines" at international events is so dumb. For the most part 4 lines get rolled, the 3rd line is a shutdown line, and PP lines can be just about anything

Well, good for Spezza. Too bad we can't get Seguin and Spezza.

The lines I expect Canada to start with would be something like:

Tavares - Getzlaf - Perry
Sharp - Spezza - Skinner
Benn - RNH - Eberle
Ladd - O'Reilly - Kane

Keith - Vlasic
Phaneuf - Bouwmeester
Schenn - Subban

Ward
Dubnyk

You're missing Purcell, but 1 more forward will be added and I have a hard time thinking it won't be Spezza if he's personally asked for an invite

Looks like Alex Burrows is the 13th forward!

But if the guy is actually calling HockeyCanada to play you have to take him unless his spot is already spoken for.

You have to reward moxie,it's good for the overall team vibes.

Not sure why Spezza would take changing diapers over playing for Team Canada

Ladd - O'Reilly - Burrows

Thats a great checking-line.

as the 'extra' forward you take a game changer like Spezza or Seguin. I would be more worried about a top guy getting injured then you are left much weaker

if you want a checker then throw on of your top guys down there. 1 game elimination tournaments the gritty pesk guys don't mean much of anything.

An easy choice if ever there was one.

i know what HC is trying to do. They want to see a whole range of players play on internationa ice to see how effective they are for the upcoming olympics. But for a team that hasn't won gold for 2 years i think they should just load up. have seen countless agitators/gritty players play in this tournament and end up being much less effective than in the nhl just cause of the on ice rules.

Well, if Spezza wanted to play, it makes no sense for Burrows to be there. Spezza is a guy who could possibly make the 2014 Olympic team; Burrows is not.
