ESPN Insider, on Cousins:

Quote:
What he brings: Cousins makes up for his average pocket mobility and arm strength with accuracy, sound decisions and leadership. He may never develop into a starter, but he could and should quickly develop into an excellent backup.

How he fits: At first glance, this looks like a luxury pick because his chances of competing with RG3 are minimal. But Cousins has the instincts and the skills to run Mike Shanahan's offense. He has a chance to run it more effectively early as RG3 learns the offense. He can be an excellent backup and he should be a great quarterback meeting teammate as these two young guys learn the system together.

If RG3 were to miss anytime. I'd rather the QB that comes in be Cousins then Grossman, at least if he struggles he's getting quality reps.

Would like to see Skins grab Zebrie Sanders here from FSU. Would have been happy to get him in Rd. 3. Solid tackle who can play 4 OL spots. Played in a zone blocking scheme in college.

So what is our starting OL looking like right now? Williams-Lichtensteiger-Montgomery-Lebrieus-Brown?

Chester is still a starter, IMO. Leribeus is a backup/Lichtensteiger injury insurance IMO.

Robinson is solid. Did a mock draft on another message board last week and he was one of the guys I ended up picking for the Skins in Round 4. Listed as an OLB, played OLB in the 4-3 at Texas, but probably best suited as an inside backer in the 3-4. May be the understudy to Fletcher.

The guys on 980 are referring to Young as a ILB.

Depth.

I like Cousins, don't get the pick, but he's better than Osweiler, Foles, or Wilson who got taken before him.

Keenan Robinson is okay.

Not sure where I got Young from. Meant Robinson.

Not liking he wore #1 at Texas. Oh well, much needed ILB depth.

One name to look out for in round 5/6 is David Molk, the Rimmington award-winning center out of Michigan. Undersized, but strong as hell (41 reps at the combine, second only to Dontari poe), and a high-character kid. Would fit the zone blocking scheme well.

We have bigger needs than backup QB. We pushed all in on 3 so... I don't see the need this year to have a clip boarder watching this year. I wanted a tackle or safety, get someone we actually think may get on the field this year.

No I am not an NFL GM, and yes Shanny must know better.

Why are the skins have the introduction for 3 while the draft is still going on? Surprised.

Predicting the FL State Tackle

Adam Gettis, G, Iowa. Never heard of him. But I like the OL depth.

Gettis is solid and very athletic, perfect system fit. Needs to put on weight though.

Oh man this smu pro day interview with LeRibeus is entertaining as hell especially 3:20 in. Later on there was some funny stuff about him dating a girl on twitter or something.

Talking heads (washed up football players) are doing the best to start a QB controversy between Griffin and Cousins. Not sure I understand how or why.

For as much as the Skins gave up to get Griffin, for anyone to think Cousins has a shot against Griffin is simply stupid.

Jaws is one of the talking heads leading the outrage. Shame on me for thinking Jaws was one of the smart ones.

So instead of talking about RG3 this offseason, were gonna talk about how Cousins is gonna compete for the starting job.

I think this is more than about Lictensteiger.

I guess they didn't much like Mo Hurt who they drafted last year, nor Chester who I thought did ok. Once we abandoned the solved stretch left and ran the toss, I thought they both did great at least run blocking. I dont know if the stats bear it out, just the eye test.

Here's to these new guards pulling and steamrolling somebody at full speed.
