Kesler + Luongo to Toronto

I'll start by saying that I think Kesler could be a decent #1 centerman in Toronto.

So here goes...

To Vancouver:
Tyler Bozak
Clark MacArthur
Matt Frattin/Joe Colborne
Carl Gunnarsson/Luke Schenn
Mike Komisarek
1st in 2012 (5th overall)

To Toronto:
Ryan Kesler
Roberto Luongo

Constructive criticism is appreciated. Feel free to write counter proposals.

I see the salary will be no problem
But I don't know of players like Bozak and MacArthur would be valuable to Vancouver. In Toronto they play big minutes because we don't have a lot of depth. On Vancouver they'd probably be playing bottom 6 minutes.

This is textbook EA NHL 12 "Be a GM" mode, where you can ACTUALLY give off pieces you don't feel are part of your core for players that are actually part of the other team's core. Well done.

You can't get an 8 by giving up four 2's...

Would you deal Gardiner for Malhotra, Raymond, Ballard and a 2nd?

IMO if Vancouver moves Kesler it's for a 1st line centre that will take over for Henrik Sedin as he fades in the next few years. A guy like Getzlaf or possibly a Matt Duchene...

In this case do you blame people for responding like that?

Vancouver should be in win now mode. The picks and prospects don't do them much good. Bozak and MacArthur likely don't crack their top-6. Schenn is too slow for their defense, it would have to be Gunnar. Really not much there I can see Vancouver valuing.

Vancouver would be better off selling both assets of separately.

It's already been said in a few different ways, but what the hell does Vancouver do with half these guys? Say the trade is Bozak/Mac/Frattin/Gunnarsson/Komisarek/1st...that's 1/4 of an active NHL roster that finished in the bottom 5 this season. How do the President's Trophy winning Canucks find a role for 5 guys that are more or less expendable on an awful team? I'm not saying that all those guys are useless by any stretch (other than Komi), but to a team like Vancouver that has 10 Forwards and 6 D under contract already for next season, there's just no room to plug these guys in.

Feel free to counter guys.

We know it won't take much to get Luongo out of Van City, so let me know what you would need for Kesler. Thanks

OP, look at it this way.

Vancouver is the back to back presidents trophy winner.

how do you do that? by not having a lot of holes on your team.

so what are they going to do with 7 (including the pick) players when only losing 2... and still needing a goalie.

end of the day they are +6 in players after this deal... teams like Columbus could use that... not teams that are cup contenders (in spite of 1st round exit)

He means that it would require ridiculous payment for Kesler, so just focus on acquiring Luongo.

Honestly? for the pair?

Kessel
Grabovski (new 2C)
Gardiner / Schenn (VAN's pick)
2012 1st.

Maybe one asset too many. But Kessel, Grabovski, and the 1st would probably have to be involved.

In other words, no, the OP isn't really that close.

So...a #3 center, a 2nd line winger who they do not need, a mid prospect, a d who at times could not crack the Leafs roster/a d who would not be in the Nucks top 4, a piece of crap, and a top pick for a top 10 goalie and a 2a/1b selke winning center? LOL. Only piece I can imagine Vancouver would want would be the pick. Yes, I know this is getting old, but its true: typical Leafs fan making a quanity for quality trade. Try something like Grabo+Kessel for Luongo and Kesler and its about right. And yes, I know all you Leafs fans are you going to flame me now, but the OP is brutal and thats the kind of overpayment the Canucks would want for the two of them

lol this is worse then the OP

Kessel alone has as much value as Kesler

Grabovski, 5th overall and Shenn (lmao @ Gardiner) for Lu

the OP is much closer then this.

Kessel scoring points is nice, but he's one of the worst defensive players in the league. Kesler's far more valuable.

Kessel does not have more value than Kessler. Grabovski has to go for salary and to replace Kesler. The pick is the key, "plus" value asset.

I suggested, looking at it, that Schenn / Gardiner seemed excessive. I wouldn't quibble with some seocndary asset getting added on Vancouver's end.

E.g.,

Kessel
Grabovski
1st

for

Kessel
Luoongo
2nd / "B" prospect.

Looking at it, I doubt Vancouver does that, actually.

Anyway, I'm not a Vancouver fan. If I'm biased, it is toward stupid, not the team.

Kessel doesn't play defense. The Canucks, when healthy, score plenty. Why would they flip Kesler for Kessel? Honestly?

That is all to fill 2C and add a 1st line RW for Sedins. Kesler=Kessel for Value and Grabo fills the 2C spot as each contract is around 5.5, but Lu's is 10 yrs left and Grabo is 5 for his prime yrs.
