I like the Cousins pick. He's a standout leader (3 year Captain which is almost unheard of). I think having two young guys with Grossman riding shotgun for 1 more year is a good situation. Griffin and Cousins will push each other. Hopefully Cousins develops and becomes valuable trade material in 3 years.

Simplistic view. To me it meant the Skins felt he was a better value than what was available at the time. He could very well turn into a 1st rounder in a trade in a few years.

Jordan Bernstine Profile
Iowa safety and return specialist Jordan Bernstine is regarded as a rising draft prospect.
He's expected to emerge as an immediate special-teams standout due to his toughness and athleticism.
With a dearth of safety prospects in this draft class, Bernstine has climbed into fourth-round consideration, according to NFL sources.
Bernstine has visited the Oakland Raiders. And he has conducted private workouts for the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots.
Bernstine ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 and 4.38 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout.
With 29 NFL teams watching, Bernstine also registered a 41-inch vertical leap, a 10-7 broad jump, a 6.75 in the L-drill, an 11-3 in the long shuttle and bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times.
The athletic defensive back recorded 99 tackles last season with three tackles for losses and one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The former Parade Magazine All-American also averaged 23.8 yards per kickoff return.
Berstine's uncle, Rod Bernstine, played running back in the NFL for nine seasons.

If his value gets that high, there are problems with RG3, so it wouldn't be a good thing.
Basically, the Skins used 3 picks this draft on QBs. Not good value at all, IMO. Especially with a playmaker like Joe Adams and a HUGE value OT pick in Bobby Massie still available.

Not at all. No reason not to believe a backup couldn't garner a nice trade return without something being wrong with Griffin. Either way, he's hopefully a talented backup who will be exemplary off the field and in the lockerroom. I especially wouldn't be worried about some average players you mentioned getting by us.
Talk to me in 3 years and we'll see where your two players are and where Cousins is.

Massie was never in consideration. He can't play the zone blocking system. Not agile enough. And WR was never going to be a targeted position. We have like 8 on the roster.
Cousins wouldn't have been my pick, but at the end of the day, our five biggest depth needs were: OT, OG, ILB, CB, and S. And we got at least one guy at every one of those positions.
It doesn't bother me that we used 3 picks on QB. It was by far our weakest position and it's by far the most important position. I'm not saying it would have been my choice, but it's understandable.

No chance a backup's value inflates from a 4th to a 1st rounder with him playing a significant amount.
If he plays a significant amount, something bad has happened to RG3.
