Everybody is healthy this time of year ... even those in the hospital or a casket. I don't believe any statements that a guy is ok.

The whistle should have never been blown...

The puck was between Smith's pads and under his rear. There is no way a ref can be expected to keep sight of it in that situation. It was already a long whistle.

The only way the ref could have kept sight of the puck that went under Smith's pads would be if Smith sat on the ref's face. The earlier one on the PP ... puck went into the net a full second after the whistle after it disappeared into a pile.

I guess the ref could have spent the entire shift inside the net.

I liked the way that one was called. But what I don't get is how that was reviewable? I always thought intent to blow whistle was never reviewable, unless they were looking at something else.

I'm questioning why Halischuk was out. He's been the best performing 4th liner all season. There's no reason for him to sit if healthy.
Bingo. SK is not having a stellar playoffs so far...but he's doing OK. Personally, I hate the 4 forwards on the PP, but he's actually doing a decent job at the point.

The big thing is SK kills penalties. You put Wilson in and you have a good PP guy, but someone else will have to pick up the slack on the PK. As much as Trotz seems to be in love with Yip, I'm not sure he wants to go there right now.

And I think Craig Smith is playing decently, but I do question having him in over Halischuk. Aside from injury, the only thing I could see is that Smith seems to be a little faster. Hali ain't slow, though.

Might give extra incentive to get the puck in the net.

Don't think it was an intent to blow call...The blew the whistle because they couldn't see the puck.

From today's practice Trotz's comments it looks like he is thinking Wislon into the line up for tomorrow's game. Who is to sit?

That's essentially the same thing. But how is that any different than Legwand's non-goal, or Brad May's non-goal (couple of years ago)?

I think they were trying to see if the puck was actually in the net before any intent to blow the whistle even existed. My guess is the referee thought he may have lost sight of the puck while it was in the net. Therefore, any intent to blow the whistle would have been after a good goal was scored.

But that is seriously just a guess. I have done absolutely no research to see if that is even possible under the rules. My brain wants a break

FWIW, I'm not pissed over that whistle before Smith kicked the puck in his own net. He froze it long enough...had that been Pekka, and a goal was called, I'd be kicking and screaming.

Agreed. I didn't have a problem with that call.

I bet Smith sits. I thought he looked pretty bad in our zone.

Totally agree. They made the right call on both whistles. I'm still optimistic that those pucks ended up in the net though, Smith and the Coyotes have to feel very fortunate that it wasn't 5-3 Preds. If there's any slight psychological edge to take from that, then i'll take it.

I agree. I'd actually sit Yip and Smith in favor of Wilson and Tootoo. More speed, more playmaking. However, I think Trotz believes we can win 2-1, 1-0 type games and will play it safer.

Willy and Hali would be nice in my armchair opinion.

For all of the Yip hate over the past six games, in game one he did the things in the defensive end and neutral zone that we've talked about that explain his ice time ... plus put five shots on goal. Those five shots were more than AK (1), SK (1), Radulov (0), Goose (1), Bourque (1), and Spaling (0) combined.

And to be honest, Yip had one of the better games of anyone for the Preds the other night. Seemed like every time he was on the ice something good was happening offensively.
