2nd and 3rd were even.

Great flipping game. LA needs to play a little tighter but they played well and disciplined. They are starting to create some separation with the mental game. There were a few points where the Blues seemed to playing off emotion and we're more focused on the reffs than the play in front of them. Happy with the win, but we need to better capitalize with our chances.

I thought Carter played decently. Missed a few good scoring attempts but that line had two great back to back shifts that lead to the VV goal and he was a big part of it.

Looks like he has his speed back. In the Canucks games you could see him pull up before going into the boards, I think, because he was really worried about the ankle. Much more physical and back to his normal speedy back checking ways. Really underrated defensive player. Lots of Blues looked really surprised when he speeds up to them.

I thought the Kings owned the third. Credit the power plays, but it is what it is. Funny thing, they could have been called for more (the Oshie elbow to the head of Mitchell, for example). Credit to the Kings for playing VERY disciplined when you KNOW the refs were just itching to raise an arm.

I was pretty surprised so many Canuck fans came over to wish congrats after the series. Props to them for that.

Don't attempt to cherry pick examples to downgrade a damn good player. He's very deserving of his nomination.
Hitch just said that his forwards didn't come back hard enough. Guess he saw the play different than you.

I'm sure backes deserved his "nomination", but he was lazy on that play and it cost them game one. He didn't pick up anyone.

I would be upset if Kopitar played it the same way, doesn't mean Kopitar is a bad defensive player.

I like Doc and Eddie as well. Pierre McGuire is pretty good as well, I know he creeps a lot of people out lol, but he's a very knowledgeable guy and I like him in between the glass. I think the 3 I just mentioned will do game 4 since that one is on NBC since it's a 12:00 start time..

For me it's especially Herby!!

Like the Vancouver series, the Kings can't be satisfied with just one.

The Blues are a young team and don't have that great a road record. Putting them down 2 games coming home would be huge.

I am extremely impressed with the level of physical play we are seeing from Kopitar in these playoffs. He is finishing his checks. Martinez and Voynov, wow just great games.

Mitchell and Quick did what we have come to expect, very very good.

Hitchcock had a hell of a compliment to pay to the Kings...

"When you play Los Angeles, there's a price to pay to win. There's a high price. If we expect to win the next game, we're going to have to play a bigger price than the one we paid."

Forwards does not necessarily mean Backes or Backes alone.

Watching it again, I'd actually agre that sure Backes could have possibly gotten back quicker but it's also not his fault. He won the face-off and it was a bad bounce. It was expected he would have been beaten up ice; he was at the disadvantage. Watching it again, the goalie is on Shattenkirk/Pietrangelo. Shattenkirk got beat to the outside and the Pietrangelo does nothing but lazily tried to step in at the last second and then follows Brown/Shattenkirk into the corner instead of stopping in front to clear the crease and help his goalie. Pietrangelo looked like a rookie on that.

And that's understandable. But when you make the "Selke my ass" comments it's just hyperbolic and unjustified. One play has nothing to do with it.

Martinez needs more love. He had a great game tonight. He got stronger as the Vancouver series went along. His play against the 2-on-1 was epic.

Martinez and Greene has been great this season and playoffs.

That goal by Voynov really settled him down. He played much better in the third.

That was the most coherent Sutter interview I've ever heard. I could actually understand him.

"did you see the Pietrangelo hit?"

"well I was standing at ice level so I should have been able to see it right?"

This is how we make memories. Matt Green with a shorty! Brown with two! In one game!

It's hockey mecca.
