Never been to Swindon, although I know all about that silly away ticket situation. Probably wouldnt have been an issue had the rink been built properly.

I was wrong about that rule it doesn't actually exist in the EIHL but it does in the EPIHL and below, I was just sure I had read somewhere they had it in the EIHL too.

Pretty sure if they hadnt built one side of the rink as a solid wall and instead opened it out a bit and whacked some seats in, there wouldnt be a hoo ha about saving/allocating seats for this and that.

There are more than enough seats, it is the policy that is at fault. Away fans have to book seats in the away block (E) online or by telephone, by I think the Thursday before the game, if there are still seats available they are then opened up and sold to the schools. Then if any away fans turn up and buy tickets on the day, they make them sit downstairs.
He should do. We tried to sign him about half way through the 10/11 season, wish he'd signed.
Theres a big pressure on Elite teams to sign a good proven import goalie, not many take chances on Brits. Hull maybe, depends on who takes them over. I hope he gives Finnerty two fingers and signs for Nottingham.
I can't see any of the top 4-5 taking their chances on a young, brit netminder who's never seen any EIHL action.
Bowns is really good, but he'll have to earn the playing time with any of the top half teams.
This Ben Bowns talk makes me think, what is the mindset of the Brit Hockey fans? Would they rather see Ben Bowns, a homegrown goalie, in their teams net or would they rather Jussi Finlandonen, born and raised in Vaanta, Finland? Or do not give a ratsass/they just want their team win? I understand not everyone is like me and would rather watch homegrown talent (I'm the same way when it comes to my QMJHL teams).

A lot of fans don't care, they just want to win and watch higher standard. Chelmsford and Romford lost a large chunk of their fanbase after dropping from the EPIHL to Division 1 because they didn't care for the lower standard, even though they went from missing the playoffs to competing for the league title. A bunch of people on THF said they would stop watching if the import levels were lowered.
Edit: It appears contradictory that more imports = more interest because the peak of hockey interest here was in BHL era back in the 80's when the highest level only had 3 or 4 imports per team, but people were spoiled by the high standard of the Super League and BNL at the turn of the century, then when those leagues collapsed the standard plummeted and people lost interest.

I have no interest in England/GB, as I'm neither a nationalist nor a patriot.
However I do appreciate that funding, along with other things, tends to increase with how well the international side does.
So I'd rather players like Bowns get top positions, there by, improving dramaticaly more so then they would in lower leagues.
Amounting in GB doing well, geting higher places and hopefuly more funding for the sport here.
Ultimately I'd love to be in the position that other top Euro leagues are, where GB talent is well produced but it is not nessisary as the sport looks after itself.

Nor am I but I still support the GB team, I see them more as a symbol and product of our hockey system than our country. With the vast diverse population that we have, what is "British" anyway? My favourite quote from Blackadder: "Please I'm as British as Queen Victoria!!" "So your father is German, you're half-German and you married a German?"

I can only speak for myself, but I do like to see Brits develop and get more time and bigger roles, but I also want to see my team win.
I'm kinda lucky to get a bit of both with Nottingham. If Brown is near the level of the current goal tender in Nottingham I'd like to see him given a chance, if no one gives these young brits a chance then they will never develop to the potential they can reach, which hurts the development of the sport long term.
I know the guy says he's settled in the area, but I would love to see him come up to Glasgow and play for the Clan. Always had a lot of respect for Meyers, he's a class act. Whoever signs him though is picking up a really solid player.

I saw it on twitter and assumed he'd been offered a chance abroad, read the article and on a panthers forum and it just seems like a complete shambles, and Meyers doesn't seen happy about it.
His family and business are both in Nottingham, so it's likely he'd want to stay close to the city, meaning sheffield would make the most sense.

If you're looking for a place to watch tonight, then you might be struggling outside of casinos.
give the maple leaf a call to see if they have extended hours for the playoffs, but I think one of the Gala casinos with a sportsbar.
edit: It has been a while since i've been in London when there was a game on I wanted to see, so I'm not sure if the casino I went to still has NHL games on.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to Meyers.
I don't think the Steelers are in play even though Finnerty gets on well with Meyers.
If he wants to keep his family where they are he could sign with Coventry, I'm sure Thompson would love to have him and he would be the replacement for Weaver.
