Tough yes, but it is good that they have 5 1995ers that can return to the tournament next year: Rehak, Soltes, Koys, Paulovic, and Reway.

Dano-Reway-Griger finished 1-2-3 in tournament scoring. Best players of the tournament were defenseman Tomas Rusina, goaltender Patrik Romancik, and forward Marko Dano. Best player for SVK as voted on by the coaches was Marko Dano.

Obviously I was very impressed by Reway's 7 point game. I hope he grows a little more size. I am pleased he chose to play for SR.

Now that we´re pormoted back to the elite, what do you guys think will next year´s team look like? We have 5 possible returnees from this year´s team (well not counting 3rd goalie):

F Patrik Koyš 5GP 1A 1PTS
F Matej Paulvoič 5GP 1G 1A 2PTS
F Dominik Rehák 5GP 2G 1A 3PTS
F Martin Reway 5GP 4G 7A 11PTS
F Dávid Šoltés 5GP 1G 2A 3PTS

In goal Denis Godla got to be the 3rd goalie for this year, but there were other goalies who got their chance on the U17 team are Juraj Halo, Maroš Mikoláš and Dávid Okoličány.

On D we didn´t have any underagers, but I guess Adrian Sloboda (1996), who was on the reserve list for this year and Martin Boboš could be the most interesting additions on D.

Between the forwards the most interesting additions could be Peter Cehlárik, who will likely play juniors in Sweden next year and Tomáš Torok, hopefully all injury trouble is behind him.

Not just Boboš, but also Pavlíček and Holenda will be interesting. Kasanický too, I'm curious whether Sweden was a good step for him, because this season it was pretty clear that Sweden didn't help Paulovič. I would even say that right now he is worse player.

I don't like Halo :-P. Mikoláš and Okoličány are better imho. Halo's stats are pretty big question mark as I have heard that he usually gets saves in game report which he doesn't have in match.

Re Paulovič: On TV the pnly thing I saw of him was that he was big, nothing else.Which is pretty much what czechexpert has been saying since the beginning. I guess even Sweden can´t do much if there´s a lack of talent...

So, basically we have a Partik Rybár 2.0?

Last year he was one of the best players in U16 NT... The question is whether he was good just because he played with/against his peers and he would be with/against them still at this level or he just went down. My humble opinion is that he went down.

About Halo. Hm, I did not want to tell that, he is definitely better than Rybár, no doubt about that, but still I think he is not enough good to play in NT especially when I take into account that Godla, Okoličány and Mikoláš are available.

I think that Paulovic has improved his skating a bit this season. Except of that he is the same player. Never impressed me. But I heard that he plays well in Farjestad.
Among goalie I have only seen Mikolas in one game and impressed me. We will see next season.
Reway is easily the most talented player among 95´.

I am afraid of D-men next season. 1995 and 1996 D-men are pretty bad. I would not exclude that Erik Černák (1997) will get a opportunity to play for U18. If Bokroš stays, I would even say that it is almost a certainty.

Sucks about Reway´s size though, do you think he´s gonna grow some more?

very probably not much
but with his skills, hockey sense and willingness to play in traffic he is still NHL prospect IMO.

Yeah. But it wasn´t so bad in 2011 either and it landed us right in Division IA for 2012, so I think it is important that the players don´t think it will be easy. Also, for example the 95´ Swiss team I think has had better results than the Czech 95´team (though that team is said to be a weak year for them.) I think that making the top 6 under this constellation is very well feasible, but we´ll need a combination of factors in order to succeed - that the best players aren´t in the CHL and will be available (or if they are in the CHL that they won´t make the POs) or aren´t injured, a solid goalie and a good coach. Considering that under the current coach (albeit pretty much always missing some top players) the last time the U17 team actually won against an another NT was AFAIK on August 11th against Switzerland, that doesn´t exactly make me very confident about him...

This group could be perfidious. As we can have 6 points, we can have zero points...

I'm little bit afraid, that we will beat them at Vlado Dzurilla Tournament and players will think that they're better (as it happened last year in Crimmitschau). Germans and Swiss have pretty solid 1995 year class, so as we have. I would not underestimate this group.

The first step to approach promotion from round robin is to keep Bokroš in the position of head coach of U18 NT.

I do not believe that somebody out of nextyear U18 team will go overseas. Maybe Timotej Šille (afaik, he would love to go to Canada...)

I don´t see it posted here yet (probably because there´s most likely no point in it), but Slovak players on the final CSS list prior to the 2012 draft:

European skaters
72 (67) Richard Mráz
80 (73) Patrik Luža
94 (130) Richard Buri
120 (-) Stanislav Horanský

2008 all over again?

Well, okay, let´s see thing from an optimistic perspective - no matter what happens next year, it will be better than this one

Since it´s been kinda dead here lately:

Only two Slovaks remain in the CHL play-offs. Martin Gernát´s Oil Kings will face Portland Winterhawks in the WHL play-offs. Martin has 7 points for 5 goals and 2 assists so far in 13 play-off games. Tomáš Jurčo´s Saint John Sea Dogs have once again made it to the QMJHL final, where they will face either Halifax or Rimouski. 19 points for 8 goals and 11 assists in 12 play-off games for Jurčo.

In the AHL 5 Slovaks remain in round 2. For Norfolk Janus has been in net in 2 games with a 3,08GAA and 89,66%, also Richard Pánik did not register any point in the POs yet. Martin Marinčin who joined the Oklahoma Barons after his WHL season finished, didn´t get a chance to play in round 1, though he did play the last 6 regular season games. D Juraj Mikuš was pointless in 3 games and had a +2. The best Slovak AHL play-offs performance came from an unlikely source as Mare hrivík scored 4 goals in 3 games of round 1 for NYR´s affiliate Connecticut Whale after he joine dthem after his QMJHL season was finished. And it seems that him not giving up on NA might just pay off for him:

Quote:
The Rangers are interested in signing undrafted 20-year-old free agent winger Marek Hrivik, who joined the AHL Whale after playing the last three seasons with Moncton of the QMJHL. ...

Why does the CSS put Luza above Buri then? I'm just curious what do you think they base their rankings on.
