I think the goaltending is more interesting than in the previous few years. Instead of the typical Halak-Stana, or Budaj-Lasak combinations, we have Laco, Hamerlik, and Hudacek.

I have always liked Julius Hudacek and hopes he gets a chance. He only played one of the eight pre-tournament exhibitions though (Hamerlik started 4 and Laco 3). I like how there isn't a clear number 1 and the goalies will be pushing each other a little.

The other thing I like about this team is the combination of size and speed on the defence. In terms of criticisms, I feel this team is very weak at centre. I do like though how each line will provide a little bit of offence.

Re goaltending: Yeah, it´s interesting. But we won´t know until the WC whether it´s interesting in a good way.

Ther emight be no clear No.1, but Hudáček was handed the No.3 position after the one game and won´t even be on the roster in case St. Louis loses against LA.

You're thinking of Jaroslav Janus. He was drafted by Tampa Bay and is currently in the AHL playoffs with Norfolk.

Janus can be the next Jaro Halak if all things go well, Hudacek no chance.

Hey people! Do you remember this poster from the Scandinavium stadium ten years ago? Still i find it le-gen-da-ry . I keep believing for QF and then everything is possible.

Slovensko má na to,
ide si po zlato,
Kežmarok to istí,
puknú od závisti.

Players that are on the roster on iihf.com:
Hamerlík, Laco
Baranka, Starosta, Vydarený, Chára, Sekera, Graňák, Kudroč
Šatan, Libor Hudáček, Surový, Bližňák, Bartovič, Mikúš, Hossa, Kopecký, Haščák, Tatar, Miklík, Radivojevič

Julo Hudáček, Sersen, Špirko and Hovorka not on the roster yet. Neither is Handzuš, but he will only arrive in FIN tomorrow.

Lines from today´s practice (bot in order):
Sekera, Baranka – Radivojevič, Kopecký, Marcel Hossa
Starosta, Vydarený – Tatar, J.Mikúš, Miklík
Chára, Graňák - L.Hudáček, Surový, Šatan
Sersen, Kudroč - Haščák, Bližňák, Bartovič
Hovorka, Špirko

Really glad to see that Vujtek had a change of heart regarding Libor Hudáček (though there´s still a chance he gets bumped to the 13th forward role once Handzuš arrives)
Though who would have thought it a while ago that he would make it, while his brother wouldn´t.

Can really help it but hope that the Radivojevič-Kopecký-Hossa line is no the 1st line, kinda a weird combination three not so creative players thrown together.

Too bad Marian Hossa is not there. It seems you guys are talking about Slovakia getting younger, but was there no chance Ziggy Palffy was interesting in playing? I know he had retired from the NT, but he came back for the 2010 Olympics, thought maybe.

Slovakia has always been the country I cheer for outside of Canada, dating back to the Palffy (still have my Kings Palffy jersey, first one I ever got), Visnovsky, Demitra (), Marian Hossa, Chara, Gaborik, etc glory years of the early 2000's. Was in Bratislava last year a mere few days after the WC (really wanted to make it there for WC, just couldn't), great city, can't wait to go back. So Go Slovakia, hopefully they have a good showing and the Norwegians or Germans slip just a bit to get that automatic Oly berth!

It´s been discussed a few pages ago actually, Pálffy was not interested, And tbh 2010 Olympics were hardly a personal succes for him.

We´ll see. Games were not played yet, so chances are still relatively good to make it.

Thanks for your support, The Catcher in the Rye. I believe it'll be great game vs. Canada and we'll enjoy it .

There´s a media guide for the Slovak team in the SZĽH website, for some reason it lists Gáborík and Pánik. Then on the other hand it also lists players that were cut already.

So two games so far, and we've come away with no points. Of course I wasn't expecting six points from these two games, and our performances have shown some promise, but we just can't seem to put the puck in the net.

I think Laco proved himself yesterday that he will be the go to guy for the tournament.

Tatar has been one of Slovakia's best players in this tournament. He's young, quick, offensively skilled and full of energy. I think he'll be a top 6 forward with Detroit for years to come.
