Obviously, Detroit was not as good as we thought and Phoenix is a hell of alot better than we thought. Sad to see all the momentum from beating the Wings get pissed away. We look as bad as we did in October.
Starting to think it isn't the roster or poile, but trotz
Poile has given Trotz various makeups, styles, and skill sets. Some teams have been full of speed, some mucking teams like Phx, some have had skilled forwards, he's made deadline deals to get bigger, or faster, or more skilled. There has been a rock in net most every year, the Preds have had one of the best defensive tandems in all of hockey.
The one constant has been Trotz, and his playoff record is atrocious, absolutely atrocious.
We simply aren't a good team. Phoenix is on another level
That's what's so bad about this. We ARE a good team. Phoenix isn't. We are, on paper, more talented than them. But you're right, they're on another level...but they didn't manufacture talent out of nowhere (except maybe in Mike Smith). They're beating us at our own game: on heart, relentless forechecking, back checking, responsible D, etc. That's not talent, that's just heart and effort. It sucks to be beaten on heart and effort.
